I got to know Jimmy Crawford when he put on a seminar in his basement, in Hendersonville TN , only two guys showed up myself and a guy in his 80's . Jimmy was a terrific steel player and builder. Jimmy and I went to a party in town (Nashville) where he introduced me to some recording aces ie Jeff Peterson (Clint Black), Weldon Myrick, and Robby Turner, free beer too!. Jimmy was going to have a special guest over ie Sonny Garrish. Jimmy came in that day and said he was awfully sorry but Sonny couldn't come so the only person he could get was Lloyd Green!! It was a week I'll always remember. Rest in Peace Jimmy.

In the mid-nineties, I lived down the road just past Jimmie’s house. When Jimmie started building again, I walked to his house and would help cut parts or do whatever I could, to help him get guitars built. Jimmie never got in a hurry with anything that he did, he was too much of a perfectionist, but I had some great times with him, Lloyd, Russ Hicks, Doyle Grisham and many others. It was only after I moved away, that Jimmie finally finished my guitar, which took about 3 years for me to get. Like an idiot, I sold it, and wish I had it back, but dang, his guitars were heavy. I was playing for Ricky Skaggs and Tanya Tucker back then, I sure do miss those days. Jimmie was quite a character, but a musical and mechanical genius.

Well done ! The Rittenberry PSG was given permission to use Jimmy’s fret board design, my new Ritt Prestige has it while my 2010 model has the old design. Very similar mechanics to both the JCH and Franklin.

JCH, some of the best steels made. Thats an excellent girl you have thwre my friend. The pedal steel is so versatile, so much more than people think..... the instrument tends to get mystified as a country instrument but you can play anything from classical to metal in them. Its all about phrasing. Jon does a great job giving a brief history of the instrument as well. Awesome arrangement of Winter Wonderland also.

If you luck out you might find a good one used for sale. A very close second tie is the Mullen or Zumsteel

Like flying a helicopter but way more dangerous. Jon you imparted so much great advise the brain is overloaded. Picking technique , practise, heaps more. The explanation of the instrument was concise and understandable thanks Jon , liked the cats darting about too. Gaz a bit of advise if you get the chance to collect your own chestnuts , wear gloves, the seed pod covers are wicked
