Fix? They're 14th in pass block win rate w/ Trent missing 7. They definitely need to draft a future replacement for Trent soon & they need to upgrade their C, but they're nowhere near as bad as you think. They'd also look better if they had a QB who held the ball for less time. Brock's avg is 3.01 sec this yr (2.88s last yr). For context, Justin Fields is at 3.08s, Jimmy's avg was 2.53s in '22, & Peyton is famous for 2.19s. Brock can definitely get better at this as he gets more experienced.

Even the best OL will eventually collapse. Yea it might give him more time but one of pursys strengths is how fast he can process information and read defenses. He's had to throw into tighter windows than any other QB this year because our receivers have not created separation. When you have to throw into tighter windows, your INTs are going to go up even with the most accurate QBs

Lots of Purdy haters, I don't know why. He isn't Mahomes or Allen, but he's really good. Right now, the Niners aren't good enough to withstand two turnovers against a good team, but his first two seasons he brought the team deep into the playoffs. A lot has been made of the team's 4th Quarter performance this season, but that is a Team and Coach problem, not just the QB. Shanahan has yet to show me that he can come up with great calls late in a game. If he was a great late-game play-caller, the 49ers would have won both SBs against KC.

Brock is fine and did have a rough year...but look at his O-line. We didn't have McCaffrey for most of the season...and also Aiyuk. Those are two pro Bowl quality players. The defense missed tackles all year and couldn't get off the field. Yes, that's part of the game, but you cannot pin it all on BP. The market has determined his worth. Is Dak worth $60 mil a year? I would take Purdy any day over him.

If I told you that BA is making 30 million a year this year, you'd think his cap hit is $30 million, right? It's 5.7 million, which is 9 million less than it would have been on the last year of his rookie deal. Next year, it will be 11 million, and the year after, it's 17 million. They paid CMC and paid Trent, but the cap hits are lower at the front end of the contract because they just give them signing bonus cash up front and make sure all the guaranteed money is gone in the first two years so they have flexibility restructuring down the line. Great for the player because they get money up front, great for the team because they can be flexible with the salary cap. Jalen Hurts is making 51 million a year according to his contract, but his cap hit in the first year was about 6 million, this year it's about 13 million, even by the time you hit the end of 2026, his cap hit is still about 31 million when the guaranteed money runs out and they can restructure based on his performance then. Everyone operates under the assumption that giving big money to a QB in terms of average per year (APY) means that it fully takes up all your salary cap money. It usually doesn't unless you're braindead in structuring a contract, and it gives the team options while also rewarding the player with generational wealth that they can spend right away. APY is mostly funny money that the player doesn't see unless you're the Browns and you fully guarantee the whole contract. If you Google Deshaun Watson's contract and see 72 million fully guaranteed cap hits for all of 2025 and 2026, then you'll see what incompetence looks like, but that's not what the Niners have ever done with any of their big deals, and it certainly isn't what they'll do with Brock Purdy, even if his APY is big.

Did anyone hear this level of hate when Tua got paid 52M/year? Tua and Purdy are very similar players. Both on the smaller side - at least as far as NFL QB’s go - they’re both listed as 6’1” and 225lbs. They are both very accurate passers. I think Purdy is a bit quicker as a runner. Tua lost the only playoff game he was in - and looked really bad. He’s also one more concussion away from ending his career (hope it doesn’t happen b/c he seems like a really nice guy). But come on. This year Tua is throwing to Tyreek Hill and Waddle and has 2 really good running backs - and they still aren’t a playoff team. The only difference I can see is that Tua played for Alabama, won a national championship and was drafted in the first round. But once they arrived in the NFL, Purdy has been at least as good and objectively better. It would be better for the Niners if they get him for under 50M but if he got the Tua contract that would seem to be quite reasonable.

Yeah, he'll have that total with 2 games missed, and after last game, he moved up to number 7 in QBR this year, which is an attempt to measure his efficiency as independently of his team as you can. He was number 1 in QBR last year with a full season, and he was number 1 in QBR with a small sample size in 2022 also, so with all the things going wrong this year, to still be rated that highly is pretty impressive. When people look at the stats that generally matter to football people, Purdy is far beyond where most QB's are this early in their career. When they look at his general accomplishments in the playoffs, he has done what he has needed to do in big games to get his team where they want to go. Then you turn on the tape and see just how consistently he hits the right people at the right time, even in tight windows when they aren't winning. The only stat that doesn't go for him? 6' 2" and 262. I think they'll pay him a good contract that gives him what he's rightfully earned, but will also allow them flexibility now, and in the future. I think that because despite having so many of the highest paid players at every position, the Niners have the 9th most cap space going into 2025.

Quite simply John Gruden is a coaches coach, his love for the game is apparent he was shafted by RG and MD. I would love to see him coach us, but on the other side of that coin I am not a Kyle Shanahan hater, I feel he is one of the best coaches around regardless of the hate mongers the team has had some very productive years, I am with him (John Gruden.)100% on Brock Purdy, is he a big iron No not yet, he is still just a gunslinger but I think with tempering and seasoning I feel he will end up being a big Iron. Thats right I said it, remember how Joe Montana started out, but Eddie and Bill had faith in the young man, and it paid off Didn't it, and since Harbaugh we have not had anyone better since Walsh. SO, give him the Go with Caveats.

I hope Purdy does a team friendly deal IF the team will need it. If not screw it let him get more than Dak ..he's better than Dak is. He's proved it already. I think Purdy would definitely take a team friendly deal no problem but Im not so sure Brocks agent will go for that. As a former football player, I think as a football player first and a fan second. Brock Purdy’s proven himself, if you don’t think so, you need to reevaluate your standards, because they’re unrealistic as a fan. Personally, I think sports franchises should have to match a donation, 1/2 to 1/4 of every contract they sign for a player. Professional athletes make way too much money. It would be a tax write off anyways.

I’m getting tired of the Haterade. Pretty much every QB needs some time to fully develop their game in the NFL. Brock is way ahead of schedule and had Mahomes beat in OT of the SB until the O-line reverted to type, and the D couldn’t hold 4th & 1! Kyle would be an OC somewhere else and John would on tv if Brock hadn’t saved their asses. The kid can play. The kid is fearless. And the TEAM loves him. They trust him to help them earn their $! This society cancels everything asap. Mahomes don’t make $60 mil. I don’t think Brock is a stickler for a number but he wants/deserves RESPECT. I’d get rid of Kyle before I trade Brock. Kyle is ruining guys’ careers. Brock makes them better when they hold up their end. Please let’s talk about the incoming draft pics and quit going on about what he gets paid! It’s starting to feel like “clickbait” for uninformed or clueless channels. (Not this one) Kyle needs to be on the hot seat next year if he keeps acting smug and like he can’t learn anything. ( But that would presume that Jed has any brains.). Brock is a special player. I don’t want to see his career wasted or get injured. He’s Joe 2.0!

QB intellect is an underrated quality of elite quarterbacks. Purdy has it. Pay him fairly, but not so much that you can't afford to build a better, championship team around him.

There are morons who never played the game thinking purdy is the problem. At best the 49er ol are mediocre at pass protection. They are not at their best. But kyle wants to win a meaningless game by throwing the ball 16 times on one of the best teams in the NFL. Ever been hit by a 280 lb dl after throwing a ball…most non players would curl cup i to a fetal position and nit get up. Blame the shetty oline that kyle created and the useless owner that doesn’t have enough football acumen to tell the gm and hc to protect the qb. Kyles ego wont win a super bowl, but a healthy protect purdy can.

LOVE JON. I love his leadership ability and speaking. I don’t even care about the football part. I value being able to watch and listen to someone like Gruden. Ii learn so much. It’s an honor. DANG I love how Gruden immediately stood up and advocated for Purdy. He’s got me buying in!!! DAMN JON needs to get to the league!!!! By the way, I have supported Brock as well. I specifically have said he deserves to get paid for what he already accomplished. To be fair though, $60 mil is too much.
