One judge gave Jon the 2nd round + 4th and 5th, One judge gave Jon the 3rd round + 4th and 5th and one judge gave Jon 2nd, 3rd + 4th and 5th. So if the judge that gave Jon the 4 rounds gets put on blast then I guess the community would have to pick what round was the "up for grabs" round, the second or the third and put that judge on blast aswell. Some people thought the 2nd round was up for grabs, some people thought the third was up for grabs. So if the community is split on that, then the judge who gave Jon 4 rounds can't really be blamed even though he also could have scored it 4 to 1 for Reyes because of the split thought processes of everyone.

Jon needs to start the fights more active. He’s being too passive early in his fights and that’s why they’re close calls. I think this should’ve been a draw
@booqrdoit91385 жыл бұрын
It looks like he's putting all his chips on his stamina. He usually starts doing stuff in the 4th and 5th cause it's like he knows (or at least thinks, as shown in this fight) that his opponents arent used to 5 rounds, so he tries to make them tire themselves out by the 4th, but hes also not where he used to be to be doing that
@righteousman52315 жыл бұрын
Thats true he knows that his team knows that they probably tried to work on that but it wont work because thats just how his engine works if that makes sense
@roberttallafer22995 жыл бұрын
Dont hope for too much. Jon is already 32 in a difficult sport. The way hes fought has always been methodical and its safer to keep doing that but hes been bulkier so if he drops a slight amount of weight I think he will be able to be more active. Depending on how round to was scored it could have been Dominic's win. He dominated the boxing exchange, if it were a boxing match he would have won, but other aspects weigh heavier when judging the fight apparently.

"Challenger has to beat the champion"....Which definitely happened. Reyes won rds 1-3. Rd 4 is a toss up imo. Reyes started off the 1st half of rd 4 very strong but Jones did better in the later half. Rd 5 is the only round Jon clearly won. So at best JJ won 2 rds. Reyes may have slowed down in the championship rds but he by means got dominated in those rds and rd 4 is arguable for either guy. I'm a fan of Jon and even in his last fight I scored it in favor of Jon despite it being razor close but Jones lost this one

flowerz I never said that Dominick Reyes didn’t give Jon Jones a good fight and pushed him to the limit. From watching the fight, I viewed Reyes coming out strong in the first round with left hands and some kicks which Jon Jones took the shots very well. Jon Jones was also landing kicks in the first/second round. Dominick came out strong and using his footwork in the second round which continued to give Jones problems. From the third round to the end of the fight it was a back and forth fight, but Reyes started slowing down due to all the movement. Even Joe Rogan stayed that Reyes was slowing down. Once that happened, Jones was dictating the fight and picking him apart.

@Craig Yates *I'll break it down since you have NO IDEA about how fights are judged.... This isnt BOXING... Its MMA.... The judges take many things into consideration... this is from the rule book: Judges shall evaluate mixed martial arts techniques, such as effective striking, effective grappling, control of the ring/fighting area, damage, takedowns, effective aggressiveness, and defense.* *Yes, Reyes had better STRIKING for 3 rounds and he was quick to get up after takedowns... But then he ran for 2 rounds and wore out the clock... If Reyes fought the last two like the first 3, there could be no argument... Jones had many more strikes for the Championship rounds, he still put up double digits in the first 3 rounds he only had 6-10 less strikes than Reyes rounds 1 through 3, Jones had multiple takedowns, He was aggressive the entire fight, and he walked Reyes down, stalked him, and walked through his biggest punches, and aggressively pressed Reyes until the final bell. Everyone saw Reyes running away, Jones stalked him and even put up his hands towards the end like "Let's fight man?" Those are the things judges take into consideration as well. It's not just about total striking for half the fight...and running out the clock. Even during the post fight interview, Reyes was more beat up looking than Jones was....*

@hdawg26975 жыл бұрын
Yea I didn’t think that fight was close. I do feel Reyes edge Jones just like I think Alex edge Jon the first fight. At the same time I might be bias because Jon is so great that when someone does something to him it might appear to be more than what it is. Fight was super close nobody can really be mad at the decision but the Judge that scored it 49-46 is bogus. Big ups to Reyes he came to fight and not pull a Anthony Smith.

Elijah Coles I watch the fight again and I think the second round is way more debatable but like I said before because you don’t see Jon dominating it looks like he’s losing the judge probably don’t see it the same way I see it. So yea Jon 3-2 after watching it a second time.

7:34-10:00 pretty much sums it up for me. Jon definitely won the fight. Reyes clearly won the 1st round. Jon clearly won the 4th and 5th. Reyes won the 1st minute of rounds 2 and 3, Jon was in control in the last 4mins of these rounds. It’s more of a 48-47 for Jones but the “49-46” judge wasn’t that off.
@michaelhall50195 жыл бұрын
I agree, you can't throw a couple of punches at the start of the round and then run the rest and expect to get the decision. The pressure and the take down is what won him the fight

Journalists only talking about first 2 round for Reyes. Jones talking like winning 5 round was absolute dominance.. Reality is: Reyes won 3.5 out of 5 rounds and seriously outworked Jones. PERIOD!
@D12Min6 ай бұрын
More like outworked himself. He gassed, was in survival mode and did sh! to Jones. On the other hand, just look at Reyes´ face in the post fight presser. Broken nose, cutelet forehead and swollen lips like a freaking carp. Dude advanced a whopping 9% and was in survival mode at the end. Karate kid fans think Reyes won by throwing damageless flashy stuff, actual fighters know that dude´s life was saved by ref and bell.
