@@tylerrobbins8311 Only one I'd call a clear loss is Reyes. Gus 1 was a close fight, not 4-1 Gus, that's crazy. You just hate Jon and it's coloring your perspective. But yes, many dirty fighting moments should have affected his record. He was still the scary man in a division of scary men for a long time. He straightup whooped the main contender raised up in DC. Santos did really well, he'd have won if he hadn't hurt his leg. I can't comment on the DQ stuff at the end, don't remember. He was still a super-dominant champion, the Gus 1 fight was wonderful, you always want a strong contender to test the boogey man. Santos really showed he was on his way out and then Reyes clearly won, that was one of the worst robberies ever imo.

@HoboGardenerBen 😂 I don't hate Jon, I think he's a cheat. Listen even ignoring the eye poke in the first Gustafsson won the striking in rounds 1-3 without question. Then factor in he took Jones down not once but twice in two seperate rounds and it's without question Gus was robbed. I saw the perfectly timed spinning elbow in the 4th that rocked Gus, getting rocked doesn't win a round. Nor does winning the 4th and 5th win a fight. Had Jones dropped Gus you could argue he won they 4th but Gus was still landing more significant strikes. Like objectively Gustafsson did better than Reyes against Jones. And yes Reyes was blatantly robbed as well.

On the plus side, heavyweight is the least interesting division. The skill bar is super low. Tom might be the start of a new era of well-rounded high-level heavyweight fighters, but so many of those fights are low-level slow snoozefests with one exciting moment when someone gets flatlined. People shit on the flyweights, but every flyweight fight is higher level than any heavyweight fight. Lower chance of knockouts so people have to develop skill. Everything happens so fast that they have to be skillful at high speeds, raising the bar. Smaller fighter pool than bantamweight and featherweight, but if they were pooling from a similar slice of available fighters, flyweights would definitely be the most skillful division. As is, featherweight has a huge pool and are still super fast, so it's probably them at the top of the skill bar.

To be fair, most of the fighter beef stuff is like kids at recess. Some of it is elevated due to vocal skills like prime Conor, or the sheer fun of the Masvidal\Askren buildup. But generally I hate that shit, it's mostly stupid engineered bullshit to leverage the power of negative emotions. I see these people as professional athletes and the fight is inherently interesting just from the matchup. The fighters are all interesting people, most people don't choose to risk themselves in this way, they all have interesting stories.

I keep wondering if Jon is rage-baiting everyone for huge ppv sales at the end of his career when he "changes his mind" and fights Tom. Win or lose he'd go out with a much bigger payday than this fight with Stipe. By holding back the divisions and talking shit about Tom's legitimacy he knows he can make us all super butthurt and buy the ppv to watch Tom defeat him. Then Jon wins and goes out on top with a huge payday and tells us all the suck it. If I'm him, that's an ideal path, and the payday would increase from playing the foil like Colby and pissing everyone off. I doubt this act will help rage-bait an increase in sales for the fight with Stipe, quire the opposite, this card is mostly doo doo and will probably sell mid numbers.
