@SkilledEditz Maybe you should watch the fight again. The second round was all Jones. He dazed Machida with a straight then took him down and elbowed him in the forehead. After the reset Jones countered Machida with a punch that dropped him, face first, to the mat. Then the choke happened.And if reach is so important how come Struve isn't dominating like Jones?

@specialforces69 Wrong set of words. Will was the word better fitting the what I meant. Bones has the spinning elbow from the clinch and in the Rampage fight I remember him hitting Rampage with elbows and controlling him from the clinch. Jones has strong ability to control in the clinch. I wish I could watch all their fights back to back on dvd, just to get a better sense of each figher tendencies, but they're somewhat hard to find online.

@specialforces69 Also, who has Machida faced that is a similar striker like Jones? From what I've seen, Jones has the longest reach in ufc history, so definitely machida hasn't faced anyone with his length before, nor has he faced anyone with Jones striking flow. also, you view the adjective technical to narrowly. If a move works and is effective, whether it is flashy or explosive, doesn't it then constitute as good technique?.

@specialforces69 You're right, but Jones has yet to pay for any misses. He's been in what would seem like vulnerable spots before and has come away with no damage. Of course he's probably never faced a counter striker with Machida's ability but the question still remains, "can he hurt jon jones" the verdict is still out there. Jones has yet to be hurt by anyone. When Machida gets inside will be the most interesting part because both fighers are excellent in the clinch (in-fighting)

Machida san used all first round to adjust the correct maai.(distance). on the second round he didnt used the kick and unfortunately one punch led the fight to the ground and the poke cut the skin....after the cut Machida knows about the rules (end the fight in the 3rd round. becouse the blood)and went to all or nothing like blind samurai.

@edlikesbrigette Maybe, but out of 15 fights he's had, Jones has only been to decision twice. He's not what you'd call gun shy nor is he mosty reckless. Every fight I've seen him in he's trying to finish the fight. The improving combination of his ground and pound , submission game and striking is getting to the point where tkos and kos are almost going to be a given every single fight he's in. Though, I can see this going to decision.

@monkeyscantconduct here and there not worrying about getting taken down and having an elbow give you a 5 inch long gash deep enough to show white skull bone or be choked unconscious via rear naked. Boxing requires some cardio yes but nothing like the cardio of MMA bc like I said, Bowing your throwing a punch here and there. MMA, your worrying about head kicks and submissions and ground and pound. thus requiring 10x the cardio Boxing could even dream of having.
