@@nordskyrim6312no we dont, Jones in this video was a 23 year old, who had only been training in MMA for about 3-4 years and would become champ 1 month and 14 days after this fight and beat the top people in the division who were still in their prime at their OWN GAME. Tell me someone else who is in their early 20’s, a UFC champ, and has defended their title more than 5 times. Jones was well rounded early in his career while becoming the youngest champion in a time where there were so many elite people in the LHW division, the belt kept changing and Jones came and dominated Rua, Rampage, Lyoto, Rashad, and Vitor who had previously had the belt. Do you see it now what we mean by another Jones.

@@nordskyrim6312No, We haven't lol there's legit nobody even close, Jones defended his title against two generations of fighters at LHW, Bro legit got bored, To the point he wasn't even trying and was still beating guys, Was so dominant he vacated his title and moved to HW, And wins the title there. Dude became a champion when? 2010? 2011? It's 2024 and dude is still a champion. Nobody has done what Jon has done, And it will likely be another decade before anyone can even come close to comparing.

It's wild, because Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg seemed to understand that both of these guys are good, but they didn't really know just how good. They didn't know how far these two would go, they didn't know how far the sport would go, and they weren't even aware of how far they personally were destined to go (Joe Rogan in particular.) But mostly what they didn't know was who Jon Jones was. At the onset of the fight, they seemed to think as though it was an even matchup between two up-and-coming guys. What they didn't know, what they couldn't possibly know, was that one of these fighters became one of the best to ever do it, and the other became the greatest of all time.

Jon Jones handed Ryan Bader his first professional loss and became the youngest UFC Champion in history. His resume is unmatched, featuring wins over legends like Shogun, Rampage, and DC. Still, critics try to downplay his greatness, claiming he faced weak competition or highlight his controversies. I like Bader's movement but he was lacking meaningful leg kicks. The key to defeating a fighter with a longer reach is to be in and out of his range. Frequent jabs thrown from outside his field of vision will elicit a fierce retaliation from him, so you must be ready to counter with your straight right.

Ryan bader sucks... He took his ball and ran to bellator.. and can't hold the belt long there.. he couldn't cut it in the UFC ... He's overated and a huge prick

That's a good tactic but also one that will wear a fighter out. Darting in and out explosively tends to deplete the cardio alot. I think another maybe even better tactic is smothering the longer fighter , fighting in close and dirty boxing. Try and Keep moving him backwards nullifying the reach advantage. Machida and Cormier both tried each of these stratagies and they both failed though. Jones used his physical attributes masterfully.

@@Nightmareman3 Indeed the smothering tactic is also a good strategy because it makes more efficient use of your energy while tiring and keeping the taller fighter off-balanced. However, the strategy i mentioned above was born out of the assumption that the taller fighter habitually brawls and thus commits to his strikes to get maximum damage. Essentially, what you are doing is setting a trap by baiting him into a commitment coming forward. If you land on an opponent coming forward at you, that strike force is amplified by 2.

I didn’t think 12-6 elbows counted on body shots. Big John specifically described it as shots to the head. Maybe the official rule set of the time was more expansive.

I knew before this fight Jon was the guy and he proved it

no one learns from fight replays before fighting jones. he kicks and you rush in punching. Also Bader why lay on the floor and dont use your legs. Guy is on top of me and my knees are going in his back. my legs are weapons.

I remember being 14 at the time when I watched this fight. I knew right away Jon was gonna be champion. It’s insane that he’s still on top. GOAT.

Baders highlight is that he got a chance to fight the goat personally otherwise just pure humiliation and domination.

The commentators seem clueless about the strength of a man! it's not based on a physique look, a man can look like Hercule's and one look fat or skinny and still be the strongest.

Jon Jones's only weakness is that you have to overpower, and out stamina him....Steve Rodgers would have a problem with Jones!
