I have always loved Jon Lovitz, but this is my favorite interview of him ever. And Kevin Pollack is the model of the perfect interviewer: you hardly notice he is there, but he gently provides the perfect stimulus for his guest and then gets out of the way. Impressive.

Agreed. It's sad that "letting the guest talk" is seen as some rare talent or quality in an interviewer, when it should be the default.

Small Time Crooks - so I recommended this film to someone who usually is not a fan of Woody Allen’s comedy. She loved it. Said it was a FANTASTIC FILM. Laughed out loud beginning to end. Lovitz it very good. Great timing. Only Lovitz can do Lovitz. He’s got a style. Which is really something for a comedian.

@@seanmurphy26 He’s so underrated it’s criminal. You can hear the simultaneous pride and disbelief when he recalls the moment when Woody Allen tells him not to worry on set because “guys like us” understand comedy. It’s so cool to listen to him recount that special moment of validation for him. It reminds me that we’re all not so different in seeking validation from those whose opinions are meaningful.

Kevin, I've been planning to pass on a particular compliment to you since 1990 so here goes. I owned the Senator Theatre in Baltimore where Avalon World Premiered and those of us who know Barry Levinson always laughed in the screenings where you do a brief, but killer imitation of your director. As I recall the dialogue in question is a scene with you and your costar in a vehicle. Bravo, it's perfect, and those watching the film were puzzled at times over why a few folks laughed at that short section of the feature. ;-)
