Jon north (first guy) is squatting 25 kilo x 6, 15 (I think yellow are 15 kilo) x2, 10 kilo x 2, 1 kilo x 2 so total of 202 kilos? (roughly 450 lbs) Second guy (pretty sure it's kevin) squats all that but the 1 kilo plates are swapped with 5 kilo plates I believe? so total of 220 kilos (485 pounds) last guy squats 25 kilo x 8, 10 kilo x 2, and I lthink that little red one is 5 kilos? total of 225 kilos (about 500 lbs, roughly 497-498) North then does a set at 185 kilo, or 408 lbs

I don't mean to tread on their hard work and dedication. They work hard and have potential. But to become elite level, it has to be a science. You have to work hard with both your body and mind. When you don't know how to lock out, when you don't drop low enough on the jerk, when you don't put your head through, you will not reach that elite level. You have to work and hone your craft. Lifting big weight is impressive, but without the calculated technique it will be hard to break barriers.

So, ignoring the fact that Ronnie Coleman's injury is of course NOT from using excessively heavy weight *due to the ability to recover faster than ligaments/densifying bones with steroids* OR that it isn't from olympic weightlifting, you are saying these guys can't duck with heavy weights? Do you know what olympic weightlifting is? The end of a jerk?

@corsonnikkel111112 жыл бұрын
In addition, Ronnie Coleman is an elite lifter, and he is recovering from that injury in one month, and this is after using extremely heavy weights at huge loads. So after years and years of training heavy, he gets a spinal injury, in which he will recover in a month (once more, using elite level weights and training) and be back to "the game" at the age of (I'm sorry, how old is he again? Not that that's an important factor...), and you use that to tell them they shouldn't catch a bar?
@justwatching91812 жыл бұрын
I hear squatting to failure is a good way to train...
@corsonnikkel111112 жыл бұрын
My final point, since clearly you are hopeless: "When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breath, then you will be successful." Pay attention to the point of the video. Do you think anyone doing this gives a damn about what you say? No. Only reason I posted to you, Vitto, to begin with, was to try and show you that those risks are not only 1 to 10% at risk, at elite levels, but the people operating at that level couldn't care less compared to the success that risk can give.

Let's assume that dropping a bar, in general, like that, CAN damage the spine, despite your lack of evidence, scientific claims, and even where the hell you are coming from with that comment. Notice how they duck WITH the descent of the bar to catch it right where they would had they been squatting it? Guess what THAT does? :)
@AnimalBB8612 жыл бұрын
ummm what do u mean why, look at his back snapping in half

Well then what do you say about football? If you hit someone with how your sopposed to with your head up you'll be fine. If you lower your head you can end up like Eric LeGrand. I lift and work at an olympic weightlifting gym. I have seen one injury there over about 18months. It was a 17year old who was trying to impress his friends skipped most of his warm up sets and torn his quad squatting about 150. There hasn't been an injury from any actual Oly lift.
