In the third round of the 2023 Mexico Open at Vidanta, Jon Rahm set a course record with a 10-under 61, tying his career low on TOUR. At 17-under through 54-holes, Rahm is two shots back heading into Sunday.

An incredible 2023 has seen Jon Rahm win four times, including claiming the coveted green jacket at Augusta National Golf Club. This week, the Spaniard will return to the Mexico Open at Vidanta to defend his 2022 title. Last year, the World No. 1 finished one shot clear of five-time TOUR event winner Tony Finau, 2020 Korn Ferry Tour Championship winner Brandon Wu, and Kurt Kitayama, who recently claimed his first TOUR win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard in March. The Mexico Open was Rahm’s only TOUR victory in 2022, but a win this week would see his PGA TOUR win tally rise to twelve. Nico Echavarria will be leading the charge for Latin American players in Mexico. The Colombian, who currently sits inside the top 70 in the FedExCup Standings, recently won the Puerto Rico Open finishing an impressive 21-under-par, two shots clear of the field.

@@deepwaterrehab7685 although after watching some more of his highlights I think his putting stroke is fairly on point recently, he seems to start the ball on line and distance is great. Rahm is kryptonite to modern PGA golf courses: 220 pounds so he automatically has power and length, short flat backswing so its easy for him to reproduce and consistently strike the ball, doesn't change his swing because of his physical attributes that hinder him his entire life so he stays committed to his move and doesn't go through monumentally swing changes when things aren't going his way.

Where are all the pga sucks that we’re complaining about easy courses at LIV events when Brooks shot a 63 ? Rahm shoots 10 under and crickets 😂😂😂
@RolandEHay
@RolandEHay Жыл бұрын
I think you have to understand that the resentment towards LIV players stems from players choosing a money grab that undermines the sport and the very foundation that made them who they are instead of sticking up for the traditions, legacy and the good values the sport represents. The watering down effect on competition is ruining the sport for so many regular fans. Remember LIV golfers were VERY well off in the first place and didn’t need to put everything aside for money. They are not like you and I who really don’t have a choice when opportunity arises because of lack of accumulated wealth. So the question to ask oneself is if you already had 30 to 40 mill dollars in the bank (like many pga players already have) would you then say yes to a further 50 mill regardless of where it came from and my answer is a resounding NO if it meant violating my values (let’s say the money was paid by Putin - money stolen from Ukrainia) because why wouldn’t it be better and enough with 40 mill dollars and a clean conscience instead of feeling like a criminal the rest of your life not to mention the undermining effect it has on a sport that gave you so much!!!

@@RolandEHay the morality argument doesn’t even make sense because the PGA has funding from the CCP plus saudi banks. And my problem with LIV is that it isn’t interesting and different. I was really excited about what they were going to do but it isn’t really anything special. Hopefully that changes soon.
@RolandEHay
@RolandEHay Жыл бұрын
@Vladic Grabot I agree that LIV is boring to watch but remember the PGA is not funded by any Saudi banks. The PGA Tour has 27 sponsors who do $40 billion worth of business in Saudi Arabia on an annual basis but that’s a completely different thing than being owned by the Saudi Arabian government like LIV is or in the case of Aramco which is a Saudi company who is the largest sponsor for the LPGA. Gotta love the false equivalency many people use!!! Remember the 40 billion dollars are being spent in Saudi Arabia by sponsors who are NOT Saudi companies but companies who also do business with the rest of the world as well as Saudi Arabia. Selling shaving cream to Saudi citizens or John Deere tractors to farmers in SA is not the same as being a de facto employee of the Saudi Arabian government or the South African. Saudi Arabia’s government is made up of by bad actors, but that do not mean that fed-ex shouldn’t deliver packages within Saudi Arabia. The people of Saudi Arabia shouldn’t be barred from receiving goods or services from the western world due to their vicious leadership. That’s how capitalism work! Being an employee of the enemy is an entirely different animal all together!!!
