60 Minutes

Күн бұрын

In 2004, 60 Minutes chronicled Jon Stewart's comedic coverage of the presidential election campaigns. Two decades later, Stewart is returning to "The Daily Show," owned by the same company as 60 Minutes, to give his take on the upcoming 2024 election.
"60 Minutes" is the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10.

I never understood the description they and Jon Stewart himself, would give The Daily Show. Referring to it as being "fake news". There was nothing fake about it. He wasn't making things up. He was showing actual footage by politicians and then pointing out the absurd. Pointing out the hypocrisy. It was (is) news with humor. That's not fake. If anything, his version of news is far more legit and authentic than what you often get on main stream news outlets.

I think he looked at journalism as something that was as important and serious as medial practice. So he was putting a medical disclaimer on the bottle. It's information as civic action. But, there's a moral component. He highlights the fact that it's not entirely objective. It's truth with antibiotics. So, not really journalism or history. More like medicine. Or, really good chicken soup.

You guys might all be too young to remember, or ever have known, but this show was lampooning. That's why it's called fake news. Today. The meaning of fake news means something else, but the original purpose of The daily show was to be something like the Saturday night live new sketches from the '70s which were also frequently based on real headlines. And then sort of take it into hyperspace. Which it did. And we love Jon and The daily show

Glad you enjoyed your time here! I don't know how much it's portrayed in media around the world, but I think the best part of the US is the land itself, especially in the west. I know it's tough to get to because of the size and lack of public transit, but I always recommend tourists visit our best national parks / forests if possible (like Yellowstone, Glacier NP, the Grand Canyon, Mt. Rainier, etc.). A lot of tourists choose to visit the big cities like NYC/LA/Washington DC, which isn't necessarily a bad idea, but I think sometimes they are disappointed because they aren't like they appear on TV and in movies (in reality, some cities are much more dirty/dangerous than anticipated). But one of the things we do well here (again, at least in the western states) is land conservation -- and the land really is spectacular!

Sucks I have to keep voting for the lesser of two evils. Completely sucks. We need multiple legitimate parties to stop this juvenile division in the country! It’s dumbing down our country. The comments here on KZbin are becoming dumber and more juvenile against each other every day. It’s embarrassing how adults cry like children in these comments. God help this country if we don’t start coming together. For the life of me I don’t know how people live their lives hating each other?? How do have any friends and family left to talk to? Are you actually happy to hate everyday of your life? I just don’t understand hating each other anymore. I can’t relate.

The token criticism of the left makes him even more insidious. The average daily show viewer (young and impressionable) think they're receiving some sort of balanced perspective on world politics, when they're really just getting partisan shilling. They reserved criticism for the Obama regime until after he left office, choosing to ignore that Guantanamo bay remained a torture facility, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars continued unabated, drone killings increased exponentially; but that went unmentioned, until he wasn't running for reelection.@@nimo517

And the greatest loss that a person loses in this life is that he lives while he does not know God who created him, knowing the Messenger of Muhammad, the last of the messengers, and the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions.
