Good reaction by Ovela because he reacted based on what he heard and didn’t focus on something that “he wants to hear” like m-angel. Here’s the thing, the song itself is not very popular because it is not performance-friendly so even Mariah tried to avoid doing this song live because of the precise timing it requires for every transition and the continuous singing in high notes with riffs and runs. The song does not need to be interpreted with angst because it’s message is about standing back up through something bigger than one’s self. So what m-angel tried to find is something that she can’t find even with the song’s original singer. Ang also, what’s the deal with hating the brand of Jona? Her brand is classy, professional, purposive, and to be consistently excellent. Why don’t you try to check on your fave girls (Morisette and Katrina) on their frequent dropping of notes and changing of melody and tempo to fit their vocal range? Compare that to how Jona delivers in her every performance-most often her performances are flawless which might lead a new listener that she doesn’t sing live. She’s a class act. Don’t ask her to become amateur-ish-she doesn’t need big movements and unnecessary vocal ad libs to deliver. She’s perfectly great just the way she is.

Jona is super awesome! Same with operatic/coloratura sopranos, she is able to extend her head voice beyond "high F" (F6) without utilizing the vocal production associated with the whistle register but remaining in the modal register. She also has a round, resonant, and powerful chest register; and is able to hit a "high C" (C6) with a mixed voice. Totally incomparable. Wow.

She may not be a fan of Jona’s technique but there’s no doubt that she’s an amazing singer. Jona is the definition of a textbook singer she sings and attacks the songs given to her just like the original artist would do no need to tweak or put twist to it because she can hit the notes with ease. I get what M-Angel is saying, at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference. That being said, I choose Jona over Morissette and Katrina any given day.

That was flawless and perfect at my end. There is nothing missing about her singing. What’s missing is not about her singing. It’s her presence. She does not have that intangible x factor that draws and sucks you in to a performance. Something that artists like Regine, Sarah, and Mori has a lot of. Jona is too shy and timid. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but to have a commanding performance, you need to have that strong stage presence. That’s why Regine is queen. Because it does not even matter how talented those other performers are on stage, the moment Regine steps in that stage, she sucks everyone’s attention to her. Something that I hope Jona can develop. Jona is a vocal powerhouse comparable, or even surpassing, her contemporaries. But she needs that x factor to even carry her higher.

Maybe what the girl has been looking for is the "angst" , or what we call "agressiveness" ? I guess? Coz Jona is very opposite of Mori and katrina and kz... Jona is very finesse, she has very lady gestures, she prioritizes doing control and soft tones plus classic techniques, unlike the others who are "thugs" , with lots of body movements, with lots of growls, with lots of "high-volumed vocals" .... Where having high volume does not mean vocals are truly powerful or notes are high... Jona is Jona... Nothing is missing with jona... What Mori can, Jona can, what jona can, most likely mori cannot, like reaching G#5 motes and higher... And 21-sec notes without breathing...

I appreciate this reaction. But I think you're missing the whole point of this performance. You missed out the passion and heart Jona has given every time she sings. I get it, to each his own. Taste is everything. Its not your cup of tea. Etc. But as for me, we don't need any validation from other people, that Jona is really really good. Ok, you don't like Jona,that's it! But girl, you couldn't deny the fact that this song is so technical, and making this in a very raaaawww recording is actually a vocal suicide! You don't like her? ok fine! but give her what she deserves. Y'all need to kneel down. In this world full of growls, full of shouty beltings, this jona, gave us the "young mariah vibes" where vocal dynamics are so insane. I can really see jona more like to be "mariah careysh" style of performing. So classy, elegant projection. I don't get it why you really hate her performance. Is it because you are always being fed up by kat and mori? Yeah their vocals are great, yes they can whistle, but dynamics? I doubt! Enunciation? I doubt! Clarity? I doubt! Lung power? Maybe kat has but not as monstrous as Jona (holding an f5 note for 21secs. ). Anyway, jona can't please everybody so, yeah that life! But just give her what she desrves yoh !!!
