Girls, a boundary is a limit you put on yourself to maintain your mental health. You cannot put a boundary on someone else. This is narcissistic behavior and misogyny. This is not what too much therapy does to someone! He’s purposely misusing language from therapy to justify his narcissistic and misogynistic actions. And yes, I know what those words mean!

Yeppppp-! Glad someone brought it up! Also, 10% of the population are narcissists, as defined by the DSM-5. So while obviously "everyone's ex" is not a narcissist, 1 in 10 people are..... Also I don't think they're up to date about trauma and how common it actually--very legitimately--is....

There is a difference between boundaries and controlling. He knew she was a surfer, this is her job, it is unrealistic to make her only wear a wet suit and not a swimsuit. I agree that you shouldn't throw around narcissist etc. But what he is doing is not healthy.

He didn't make her though. He said those were his boundaries and all good if it wasn't something she was down for. If i were her i would have laughed given her job and said kk clearly that's not gonna happen. He didn't abuse her and that word is so misused here.

A narcissist goes into therapy and creates a documentary on therapy to say he’s healed…. thus, he uses therapy words to manipulate/control (aka can count as emotional abuse). There’s no such thing as too much therapy when you’re using it for the right reasons & wanting to help establish boundaries. A fellow therapy goer herself & victim of emotional abuse. :)

Ok here’s my Kim & Kroy theory: they were having money problems so they staged a divorce knowing everyone would be shocked and talking about them. Then they took these past 2 months to sell these salacious stories about each other and get the money they need to pay off their debts. Now they can pretend to reconcile and remind everyone how much we love them and potentially leverage this into a refreshed reality career. At least this is the story I’m telling myself!

Ugh this wasn't the take I was hoping for with the Jonah Hill texts. I fully anticipated the girlies to go off, but I felt like they were trying really hard to be neutral and almost devil's advocate for Jonah. None of us know the whole story, but I think these text messages speak for themselves and we can all collectively agree that this is a form of abuse and is extremely unhealthy. I also really didn't like the sidebar about this not being a good look for therapy and how people just throw around "therapy words" these days. Love you girlies but this was hard to listen to!
@darbywinston
@darbywinston Жыл бұрын
Their point was Jonah was being unreasonable/not someone i would date but to call it emotional abuse is a bit much. The girl could leave him at any time, and did, and he hasn't done one thing to clapback. She should take some accountability for releasing private text messages. There's other takes besides let's 100% cancel someone.
@rachelschleifer9247
@rachelschleifer9247 Жыл бұрын
@@darbywinston To say her calling it emotional abuse is a "bit much" is truthfully a really gross take to have. If the woman says he was manipulative, narcissistic, and emotionally abusive then that is her truth, and we have no business telling her that it's a "bit much". I truly hope if someone was ever harmful to you that people would believe you and not tell you that you're being a "bit much". Also, please re-read my comment because I never said we needed to cancel him.
@rachelschleifer9247

@@darbywinston Also, if she wants to release text messages then that's her prerogative. Unless she signed an NDA, she has every right to expose someone for acting like this.

@@rachelschleifer9247 How was she abused? She listened to him, tried to make it work, went to therapy with him, then decided to leave him. The relationship didn't work out and now for some reason, she is releasing what should have been completely private messages to the world. We shouldn't even know all this. I'm sorry the Toast didn't provide the witch hunt you wanted. He's being ripped a new one all over the internet tho.

The therapy doc that Jonah Hill created was precisely the opposite of what Claudia and Jackie said (moreso Claudia). It was not an "I'm healed and here's how" - it's more about the deep interworkings of a human being and their coping mechanism through the use of "tools" that this world-renowned psychotherapist created through his practice.

What’s toxic is asking something of someone but not being willing to do the same with their boundaries. If you can’t comply, then you guys are not compatible and there should be no hard feelings. I think you do your best to work on yourself but no one is perfect and your person will be able to meet you half way and you should be willing to meet them half way. That’s healthy!

I honestly really appreciated Jackie’s levelled take on this - it’s a balanced view and not a crazy double down on either Sarah or Jonah’s side. They acknowledged that his so called boundaries are crazy, but she’s out here exposing this a year after the breakup which is also a bit strange. Just my take

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I didn't know how to put it. But they both definitely have trauma--as does anyone who experienced issues with their parents growing up. I don't think they know what it means in the slightest (still think that it should solely refer to the classic use of veterans with PTSD, which is of course a very extreme form). It's kinda....not cool...to hate so hard on "therapy terminology" that they don't even know the definitions of, when it's likely that many, (likely most) viewers have experienced trauma in some form.

Well if people knew the actual definitions/statistics behind these "terms," they likely wouldn't be as sus as they are about their use. 10% of the population are narcissists. Thats factual. Almost everyone has experienced some type of trauma. If you see that and think "umm what?"--do some research. Not coming from any kind of tiktok community haha, have yet to venture. But I get where you're likely coming from--as ADHD-tok apparently started trending during covid, and people were getting diagnosed and prescribed meds via telemedicine (it generally can only be truly diagnosed IRL, but of course there were exceptions when in-person wasn't an option)--ANYWAYS, now a ton of ADHD people have been totally screwed because of the medicine shortage that has lasted an entire year. I take an uncommon med, and even started having to have it ordered ahead of time. People with severe ADHD (i unforch fall into this category) have been fired as a result. The life expectancy for those with ADHD is already shorter than Neurotypical peeps due to being more prone to accidents/unfortunate incidents--but driving impacts everyone on the road....so now we have all of these ADHD people who SHOULDN'T be driving sans medication all up on deez STREETS (hahahah, but forrealz) putting their own lives and everyone else's who gets in their path in danger! so i totally just exposed myself for being adhd and medicated but not good at using my focus on....productive things EEK
