I sang this!! 7th from the left, middle row. Brings back wonderful memories from Downer and singing in the choir. I think this was recorded around 1971 - 51 years ago!!! I’m 62 now, and can still remember all the words. We had so much fun recording this record in the school hall. Happy times.

When I was at middle School on the isle of wight in the early seventies we sang this , I loved being part of the choir and our headmaster Mr longhurst loved conducting , this is faster than I remember and we certainly weren't up to harmonising but wonderful memories all the same.

this is great. Some interesting and unique interpretations of tempi and dynamics here. I will certainly note this as a reference for my schools performance in the Spring next year. Thanks for posting this.

I got my parents to get me these pieces when I went to school, I was so impressed, and when I listen to this it I can hear why, it is quality writing.

Exquisite choristers! This is one of the things I miss as an adult: singing together. I don't miss being labelled as precocious or having to beg for sweets and video games but I do sorely miss singing in a choir.

How do you do it that fast

It was a long time ago, when I was younger. I probably wouldn't do it that fast now, but they were good kids who could do it.

Connie Redburn We perform this at church every few years (from some time in the 90s, still going now), seems to be about the same speed :)

Much too fast! It spoils it actually.

I'm afraid I disagree. We did it at school in Egham about the same year as this. The music teacher was a jazz pianist and if anything played slightly faster do it was hard to get all words out of "When Jonah sank into the sea". This is first KZbin video I've found which plays at what to me sounds the right speed. I am very impressed that singers stay in unison and don't get tongue tied. I wonder if hymns and do were faster back then, our church choir had some reel to reel tapes transferred to cd and initially thought the tape had been set at wrong speed before realising the pitch was correcf
