After watching all his videos, this is the conclusion. 1.- If you are new to bar systems and want to enjoy an excellent sound system for less than 1,000 USD, get the JBL 9.1 2.- If you are a geek, and are building a home theater looking to spend more ~ 3K get the sonos system. I personally have the JBL. And it’s excellent. I bought it 1 week ago and it’s just perfect. Movies, and sounds are just so pleasant to watch. If you want to spend more money for little to no difference, go ahead and buy the Sonos.
@JonahMatthes4 жыл бұрын
That’s a pretty good conclusion! However, there is a pretty significant difference between the Sonos system and the JBL Bar 9.1. I’d say they’re close on the overhead sound effects, but the Sonos beats the JBL by far in bass response and overall quality of sound. I agree though, if you’re new to soundbar systems and don’t want to spend a fortune, the JBL is a fantastic option.

Just stumbled across your channel, appreciate the work you put into the reviews. I read someone say that the wireless surround speakers do NOT charge if the bar is on, is that true? Nice review. My favorite never talked about feature is it's mobility. I have a projector and extra wires that I keep in a box. In the summer, I simply pop the sound bar off the wall, and bring that and the subwoofer outside. 1 2 3. Very easy and worthy outdoor surround system for movie nights. No speaker wires for anybody to trip on or for me to set up. Shield pro to the sound bar, 25 ft HDMI to the projector. Three power outlets by the projector screen, and one power cord for the projector. Considering an outdoor surround sound with a decent amount of power, that's very minimum setup. Maybe 10 minutes, and it's still my primary indoor home theater

I got this soundbar last week, and contrary to what people are saying, my detachable speakers seem to be lasting at least close to 10 hours if not more (and yes I mean in terms of actually playing stuff not just on standby). I can't explain what those people are experiencing. Perhaps they're being more rough on it in terms of volume, maybe it's an issue unique to their unit, maybe I'm just lucky. The only thing I dealt with was some initial interference relating to my eARC setup, but after I figured out what was wrong it's been working as advertised.

Idea: You can test sound quality if you get a pair of proper binural microphones with a silicone head to simulate the skull. Recording like this creates surround sound when played on headsets, and makes it feel like youre actually in the room (it is the best way to get surround sound in youtube's steroe codecs). This would be amazing for capturing the surround capabilities of these sound systems. Of course your room will still play a factor, but as long as you test in the same room, results should be comparable

Happy new year and big thx for your videos... I have questions regarding digital sound out on LG TV. I heard that Auto is for ARC and pass through is for eARC. I've a budget LG tv (UN7300) with a standard HDMI ARC but I've have both options (auto/pass through) 1/ what's the point of having pass through option since my tv don't support eARC? 2/ what's the difference between both options (I mean what auto really do and what pass through do)? 3/ I have the JBL Bar 5.1 (with real surround speakers which support PCM/LPCM, AC3 and DTS) I know that my tv don't support DTS as all LG TVs of 2020 and ARC pass through don't support LPCM so the only option I've is Dolby digital and am wondering if auto is the right choice rather than using passthrough!? PS: I can detect a difference between both options; when auto is selected surround speakers are a bit louder when pass through is selected the front speakers (from soundbar) are a bit louder and surround speakers are less louder. Plz help auto or passthrough which is the most accurate in my case and what's the difference between both.

Nothing works, and if you run the device through the soundbar to the TV, nothing displays. It never seems to happen when I'm watching through my PS4 regular, but that doesn't do 4k. I'm concerned that load might mean that the bar can't handle the 4k/Dolby information going through, but that would be crazy if it can't handle it. That's what is made for! Would like to know this as well, I have a low ceiling and currently using Atmos at High, but I can barely hear anything coming from the top. Surround sounds great though

Remember guys that just because you watching a movie in dolby atmos that doesn't mean that you are going to hear atmos all the time, I have movies that I only hear the atmos once or twice the whole movie.

Can a second subwoofer be added to this soundbar?

Excellent review, I hope soon you can make a review about this soundbar vs New Bose Soundbar 900 and test the Dolby Atmos sound, I know LG soundbar came with surround wireless speakers already but also Bose soundbar 900 can add wireless surround speakers, I wonder which one is better. I hope you or someone already test this two excellent soundbars.

Hi Jonah, thank you for the review, I bought this soundbar a month ago, the soundbar is no doubt amazing, but I have experienced some weird issues. When I use this with my TV connected using optical cable, and put surrounding speaker in the back, it looses signal for a moment and gets connected back quickly. This dropout increases after 2 hrs of usage. Have you experienced this? Or heard of this issue? Thank you for your time

I haven't experienced this issue before, that's odd. May want to contact JBL support about this!

hey Jonah. The HDMI input on the soundbar is an "ARC" whilst my TV's HDMI input is "eARC". Is there limitation in the sound signal when mating the TV's eARC to the soundbar's ARC? Thanks

About the inconsistency with surround sounds with different streaming platforms, I had that issue with my JBL 9.1 connected to Nvidia shied and doing video passthrough. Netflix, Disney+ all showing just 5.1 for Dolby Atmos content. Connected the soundbar to Wifi using google home and it did a firmware update which fixed all of such issues.
@joshdimovski44833 жыл бұрын
So you got dolby atmos with connecting Nvidia shield straight into the soundbar. ?
@shailajakumari2407 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the explanation Sir. Please answer this query - I have 2019 model TCL TV with HDMI ARC port, and JBL 9.1 with HDMI eARC port, also a Xiaomi Box 2nd Gen. So if I connect an external hard drive (that has bluray rip movies of lossless Dolby Atmos) to Xiaomi Box, which inturn will be connected to JBL 9.1, so will the sound output be lossless Dolby Atmos ?

I love this "real world" review instead of just numbers and data. He's right best way to make a decision is listen to them at Best Buy or some other audio store. Example: every reviewer including Jona here, raved about the Sonos Arc so I had really high expectations for it. Best Buy in my area had them next to the Bose 500 and 700 and I kid you not, to my ears; the Bose blew the Arc out of the water and at about the same price so I bought the Bose. I really wanted the JBL 9.1 though which they didn't have on display so I bought that too and a Sony HT-ST5000 waiting for them to get shipped and I'll compare them at home and send the ones I don't like back!!! 🤣
@JonahMatthes4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I say this a lot, everyone listening preferences are different. Some people may think the Sonos Arc sounds better and some may say the Samsung HW-Q950T sounds better. The only issue with listening in Big Box stores is that it's likely going to sound very different in your home. What you're doing is honestly one of the best ways to go about it. Buy a couple of systems to test on your own. Figure out which one you like the most and return the one you don't like.
@zoroluva4 жыл бұрын
@@JonahMatthes You know what, hadn't thought about that, the store will have a very different sound profile compared to the average home. Good perspective. Thanks!!!
