Thank you Jonah for saying “anti-Jewish hate” instead of “antisemitism.” As a Jewish historian (and a historian of Jewish culture), I stopped using the latter when I learned the history of the term. I usually say “anti-Jewish racism,” because even though there’s no such biological thing as race, and Jews aren’t socially a race, we’ve been racialized by haters and subjected to racism since ancient times. It’s time to call it what it is. Best of luck with the podcast. As an older listener I enjoy hearing what younger people are experiencing, and will share the podcast in my social media. ❤

Despite its imperfection, Anti-Semitism is the historical term and we need it now more than ever. I don't think it's a good time or a good idea to rebrand. Anti-Jewish Hate is also inadequate because most of the worst offenses like double standards and anti-Zionism don't feel hateful to the people doing them. Anti-Jewish Racism is even more problematic because people have been taught that racism against "white" people doesn't exist, and nobody reacts positively to being called a racist. Maybe we do need newer and better terms, but the point I want to make when I say anti-Semitism is that these actions and beliefs *endanger the Jewish People.*

Forgive this adjective lollapalooza but each word is so true! This may be the most thoughtful, interesting, informative, honest, sensitively and professionally done podcast I've ever listened to! At a time when these conversations are more critical than ever we are so lucky that Jonah Platt has taken up the mantle to shed light (and facts) on what it means to be Jewish. Jonah, your talents have never been more powerful! Thank you ❤

I was just thinking how much I disliked Michelle Williams in "The Fabelmans" a real Jewish Mother should have played the part. She was trying to be one as apposed to being one. Oppenheimer filled with non-Jews playing Jews, WHY!!??

My questions too. Thought the same as you about Oppenheimer. And why on earth would Spielberg have his own Jewish mother played by a clearly non-Jewish actress?
