I like that Philippe is a younger man in this production because it makes his virility another wound for Carlos who would never consummate a marriage to Elisabeth. They might have added a few white streaks to Philippe's beard to match the libretto. Wonderful singing and acting!🤓

C'est comme si on ne supportait pas d'avoir l'image de deux hommes qui se disent qu'ils mourront en s'aimant, et a mis, alors, le visage de la femme, belle, charnelle, comme vivante. Decision du directeur, mais aussi, influence des moyens techniques: photo/video.
