Thank you Jonathan for saying out loud what I've said since 1978 about the depth of John's work. While working part time in a record store the debut album 'Ultravox!' appeared and the artwork and song titles drew me in immediately as I sensed there was more at work here than another "company" band. The record was fantastic, spinning visual poetry against these arrangements that made the songs so great. A continuation of the early 70's Bowie/Roxy school of artful pop music where it was the whole package and there was someone behind it all, artists, not businessmen. As an artist/singer/musician myself, John Foxx has been an inspiration over the years, I always loved how he controlled his releases in terms of marketing and cover art, never following trends which made his work pop if you saw a magazine ad or were in a record store and this book is just fantastic ! A peak inside the creative process and the glorious results with color reproductions of many of the various singles & album covers. 👁👁⚡
