What an awkwardly sweet moment, when Herzog unexpectedly compliments Demme, and the latter's cheeks redden immediately. Such a great moment for cinema

I've seen many Herzog interviews. This is one of the few where he really opens up.

Demme is just humbled and moved deeply by Herzog's compliment. For lovers of cinema and the brilliant men behind them this is a beautiful moment.

Some people have been very shitty about Mr Demme-it's not fair. It's obvious he's a fan and a bit in awe. We all know WH can talk for hour after mesmerising hour but this interview is great fun.

Thank god for people like Roger Ebert to truly recognize a person’s efforts and obstacles. If I received a letter like that, I think I would die happy.

There's a lot of hate for Demme here, what gives? I mean of course he isn't in the same league as Herzog, who is one of the greatest of all time, but still, Demme is a very accomplished and respectable film maker.

I think it's awesome to see not one but TWO greats in the same interview. Thanks for uploading this!

One of the best recorded interviews - or better said, conversations - I've come upon with the great WH.

It's incredible to see these magnificent directors talk about cinema, and how their careers have progressed through their films. I'm a fan of Herzog's movies, in fact, during Pandemic, my mom, and I were watching Aguirre the wrath of God, Fitzcarraldo, and Cobra Verde, starring Klaus Kinski who was important for Herzog's career as a filmmaker. Two of them made a great friendship, although they were about to kill each other, while shooting Aguirre the wrath of God.

Excellent interview all around.

myself as a starting out filmmaker, I would never have thought of bragging on my own films. It's very easy to think that when you see these great directors talking about how great this or that film of their own was, that they are expressing braggaddoccio. But then you realize how large of a production a film is, how big of a team, and in reality is giving credit where credit is due and praising his performers and the members of his crew for the magnificent job *they did on the piece they made together. That's an essential part of being a director-- is demanding exactly the very best, and then praising your team when they give it to you.
