I just had a conversation with my minister about this very thing. I suffered a stroke a few years ago that dramatically altered the trajectory of my life. I attended a church recently & at the end a friend's mom asked why I didn't give my testimony. I told him that I can't bring myself to say what I assume everyone wants to hear. God saved me, & I'm blessed. While I know these things I get consumed by what was taken from me. I fear that I will be judged by still wanting God to answer "why?" This spoke to my struggle and my TRUE testimony. Thank you!

I, myself was under pressure. Scared, lonely and desperate to fit in. I put on a fake smile and hanged out with people that were taking me out of Gods path for me. From smoking, to drugs, to alcohol, to sex, all these things were only temporaral pleasure. Never really giving me a long satisfaction or fufillment After some while I got tired and drained, I had to leave. But this was God teaching me a lesson, that the world will only fill your hunger and thirst temporary but “when I’m with you”, he said “my cup will surely over flow and every hunger you ever felt will be gone forever” I beg you, to not be conformed to this world like I was or to give into the pleasures and lust of life just to fill something temporal because the flesh leads to death. But when God is with you and you walk with him, he will turn you into a sign and wonder like he did to me and remove the shackles from your feet, setting you free from your past guilts, regret, pain and constant sorrowful nights or perhaps even a mixture with anger and confusion. Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path

This speaks to my soul. I was a long time member of a place that could only be described as a "cult" pretending to be a part of Christ's church, IMHO, the epitome of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Jesus helped me to understand that the shackles that had been placed on me through their rules, their fear mongering, manipulation, ostracism, criticism & overbearing control, were NOT of Him, but of the enemy. We'd been taught for years, that turning our backs on that place & their way of life, would cause one to be excommunicated from the friends and family we'd grown to love. Still, God gave me the courage through Faith in His sovereign word to know that even if I left that life behind, Thank God for His mercy & grace towards us, that He'll reach into a pit & be our life line. Though I am still trying to get my accustomed to my new life in Christ, I have no doubt He will never leave me or forsake me, even if I make a mistake. He doesn't require me to 'earn' my salvation nor is be threatening to snatch it back from me if I step out of line. Please pray for my strength, because I was in that place a lot longer than I've been out, and though, I would NEVER 'Return', as they continue to preach, I am still 'shedding' their interpretations of everything. I notice 'triggers' depending on different situations. May the Lord have mercy on us all.
