Rewatching this video and it just shows how many interesting videos you produced. Some are just getting better when watched this time of year (November) when we have a day just lasting 7:50 to 15:18) and you need some comfort to battle the darkness.☺

Hi Nigel, I live in Victoria, and have been following your channel for 6-7 years. I just subscribed few hours ago, and trying to figure out how to send you few photos of my bonsai, which you inspired me. Your visit to Jonathan was wonderful. His passion for bonsai is contagious to me. I am a member of Vancouver Island Bonsai Society for 11 years, and very humbled to learn this hobby. Thank you.

I just love his joy and passion. it´s like many of us adults, when talking and showing our bonsai, the inner child pops up. I surely know that from myself, both with my bonsai trees and my paintings. I can´t wait for my Birch to turn white.

What an incredibly nice guy with a amazing collection. I only started growing bonsais a year ago and being 71 years old I probably won’t see any of my (mostly Yamadori) trees as a finished bonsai but I’m having tons of fun and with Yamadori trees I’m a few years ahead of time 😀👍

Been waiting (and pestering) for this update for a long time, not least because it inspired me to make a similar birch forest myself at the time. I wired a new leader on one of the trees but sadly the wire strangled it and the tree died and I need to replace that one tree in the composition. Super collection and bench tour. Anyone who has not seen the first two needs to check them out - it’s a masterclass on making bonsai forests. Thanks for the update Nigel (and Jonathan). And sorry for being a pain in the ass about it 🙏😂😂😂😂

I thoroughly enjoy this video .. I loved the antique benches, .. and tables, .. and the solo perch- tables that display all the bonsai. This, I believe, is just as important as the bonsai themselves. Presentation is EVERYthing. Even the black table with the below shelf that houses the dozens of empty (but eventually- to- be- used) bonsai planters was a treat to see. In my yard, i have been busy obtaining several presentation tables for my bonsai so i really do appreciate this video ... and the effort that went into this gentleman's backyard. By the way, .. I also have an outdoor sauna ... This guy's backyard is a MAN-CAVE for sure ...

I can't find the park you guys were talking about for the dying pine tree. I see "Grasshopper Hill Park" on Kilborne Ave in Ottawa, and "Kilbourn Park" in Chicago, but that looks like a small little recreational park in the city. I can't find anything else close to you guys. There's one in North Carolina too, but I doubt you're referencing that one. I wanna see that tree! 😭
What is the little brown plastic pots in all the plants
@jensmalle33702 жыл бұрын
so you are in canada, what do you do about the pots in the winter? don't they crack? I never have luck with my pots outdoors
@TheBonsaiZone2 жыл бұрын
They will crack in the winter! Many people take the trees out of the pots for the winter and put them in the ground. Some protect them from freezing through the winter
@jonathanaristone24682 жыл бұрын
Jen I try to make sure they are High fired pots which have a low moisture absorption rate. If I am in doubt, I pull the tree and wrap the root ball with garden cloth and heavily mulch under my bench as I discribed.in the video.
