I think Wilson is a very interesting artist, I like his lyrics, versatility, melodies, arrangements, choice of instrumentation and so on, but the one thing I just can't fall in love with is his shallow voice and way of singing. I'm sorry. I wonder if he would reframe his act into the Jonanthan Wilson Band and let another do the lead vocals, how that works out.

I guess it works better on his records where he can use a bit of studio trickery. I find his voice fits his music, lyrics & arrangements and i think a "great" voice would actually detract from all the other stuff going on his songs. His songs are like treasure troves, with so many unexpected twists & turns. The voice is just one of many elements. That also explains why he doesn't have mass appeal, it's really a musician for music nerds and other musicians.
