Jonathan so many of my friends are dying lately. I will be 67 years old soon and realize that life is so fragile. I will be playing you singing Caruso at my funeral because Caruso wrote this song about real love. I have only had one man in my life who I met at age 14 years and we are still together after nearly 50 years of marriage. I still hold hope that before I pass over into the next life that I see you at the opera house in Sydney Australia??

When I heard Jonathan in that first tv competition, his voice was so beautiful & his delivery, even though nervous, so immediately touched the heart, within 4 notes I was crying & by the last note I was applauding him, literally, alone in my living room. Then Simon said dump your partner and Jonathan politely refused, proving he was not just a great talent - he had integrity. So did Charlotte - she knew how great he was & how greatly he needed her support. Time has passed. Jonathan has grown from a shy, self-effacing kid into a man who, although much more sophisticated, is enjoying his celebrity without losing his humility. I am so damned proud of him you'd think I was his mother! Jonathan Antoine is a beautiful soul who is deserving of a long and storied carreer.🌹

as data: Pavarotti is the only one who has sung this piece in the key of G Minor, this boy and Bocelli sing it in E minor, a tone and a half lower, that prevents them from singing the famous "C" just as Pavarotti does. , that's a huge difference. Hi, do you know what this song is about? I'm curious to know the lyrics meaning. I only know it's a beautiful song and makes me sad..
@Sonia-fx9vr2 жыл бұрын
@@Melsi555 I'll try to explain the sense as good as I can 😅. First of all, this song has been written by Lucio Dalla, one of the best songwriter we have had in Italy. Mr. Lucio wrote this song while he was staying in the same hotel and the same room, where the great Enrico Caruso (the most Italian tenor in the world) stayed, shortly before his death. This Hotel was in Sorrento, in front of the sea, and when Mr. Lucio Dalla looked out from the old terrace of this room (which overlooked the gulf of Sorrento), he felt the strong impetus of putting himself at the piano and playing and, on that occasion, he composed "Caruso", inspired by the context. The "story" talks about a piano/singing teacher and his young pupil who, for some reason, had been crying. He hugs her, declaring he was in love with her; the hug they give each other is "like a chain", strong enough to "melt the blood in the veins". In this landscape of Sorrento, he gets lost in the eyes of this girl, so clear and so sincere that stun him, so much so as to make "everything seem smaller" and vain, including moments of glory experienced on overseas stages (Caruso, was famous and appreciated all over the world). And when he saw the moon coming out from a cloud, admiring this show, even death seems sweeter, standing in front of her eyes and closed in that embrace... I hope this little explanation should make the picture clear 🤗😅.
@bearygoodbeans81693 жыл бұрын
A song about Enrico Caruso, the first great; lovingly rendered by the world's current greatest tenor. A few days before Caruso's death, he was singing in his room at a hotel in Sorrento, being adored by a student. Caruso had throat cancer, tragic and unfair! As he sang, his strength rallied, provoked by those adoring eyes. Caruso was disrespected by Italian opera houses, found love for his art in America. It seems Jonathan knows this story to its depths, it shines through this gifted performance; he catches the moods, amazing accurate diction (annunciation?), grows in strength as the song goes. Brilliance personified. Why is that something that enters the ears produces tears? Some singers polish the gem (the song), very well. Jonathan became the gem, and it is priceless. God, please bless this young man as he blesses us! The cover on the album "Going The Distance" is incredible.

That’s a heartwarming song and the lyrics just makes me cry every time… It’s difficult to forget Lucio Dalla’s voice, but he was just so stunning that I got absorbed by that atmosphere! An amazing song of the last days of Enrico Caruso, and when he has fallen in love with a young student. He was dying of throat cancer, and this was a tribute song to Caruso, and unrequited love. I have heard other tenors sing this, but Jonathan you capture the heart of the song. Great Job.

I Agree, Joel, I went to see the movie The Great Caruso with Mario Lanza In the 50s. As a young girl, I was captivated then, Especially when Lanza sang with a very young Pavarotti, it was a powerful performance, Jonathan is up there with All the Great Tenor’s, and I have heard a lot like you.

This is a romanian speaking, one Who lived in Italy for 4 years. Whoever hasn't seen Italy by now, you should pack up and start your emotions tour. Because that is what Italy is all about, emotions. I Will never forget The places, The People, The culture, The old buildings, The peace under The olive trees, The amazing seas, The soultouching music and incredible food. In one Word, when you say Italy, you say emotions. I have listened over and over Lucio Dalla's version of Caruso back when i was in Italy, and i can say is The perfect song to put on repeat while you're there. This Jonathan guy is remarkable. His voice is extraordinary and i bet he Will be a huge asset for international opera patrimony.

Once again, as I said two years ago, Jonathan is the greatest all around tenor voice in the last 100 years if not the greatest of all time and I do not say this gratuitously but rather I say it based on the evidence. I listened to and compared the performances of the most famous arias by Jonathan to those of all the other great tenors of our time up to and including Caruso, and Jonathan is truly the best in the class for a number of reasons. What sets Jonathan apart are three particular vocal qualities; Firstly, he has power throughout his entire and extensive vocal range while the other greats usually lose volume or something else when they are below or above their comfort zone and their voices become thin Secondly, Jonathan can produce VIBRATO at virtually everly stage of his vocal range and can control it with ease both with soft and strong vibrato Thirdly, and to me most importantly, when hits that last high C or whatever is the show stopper note of every aria, and which we are all waiting for, he is able to hit it with seemingly no effort, looking totally natural, whereas most other tenors look like they are in such pain you would think they are passing a kidney stone and you can see them mechanically preparing to hit that note indicating it is not natural for them. Besides these musical and vocal attributes, Jonathan also has artistic qualities which set him apart such as his phrasing, unique and recognizable attack and timing which is also so impressive and compelling and finally a truly unique stage persona, charming and smiling and passionate...also unique. The greatest tenor ever who GOD has blessed with this great instrument...Q.E.D.

I love this song. The verses basically are ways to poetically set up the chorus, which is really someone languishing completely and saying "you know I really love you right?". There are so many moments where your heart screams out this phrase and you don't say it out loud. When you see your child go off to college, when you break up with someone you still care for, when you hold your baby for the first time with no one else around. It transcends language.
