What a refreshing surprise: a night flight in a GA! Absolutely top shelf, dear Jon! Well done!

Should have an Outer Marker. Tune the ADF to point to it, when the needle is pointing to your Left Wing, you are even with it. I usually go a couple minuets past it, then turn onto course. Should be about 2500 ft abv touvh down, but have time to get Alt. established once you are inbound. Now you have time to "GUNP": Gas, Under Carr, Mixture, Prop! I set up Speed ad power such that as I get close to the Outer Markert, I can lower gear and approah flaps, and retrim for the ride down the glide slope at desired approach speed. All you have to is fine adjustments of power hoh hold airsoeed, and very fine adjustment of pith on the Attitude indicater the maintain glide slope. The less you have to do coming down to hold tolerances on a flight check or in rough weather, the better!

Recently discovered your channel, really enjoying it thanks! Never done an ILS in GA aircraft so thanks for that, I'll go give it a go.

My only complaint with the Comanche is that A2A made it so good that I no longer bother to fly any of my Caranado, Milviz or Just Flight GA planes, lol.

Thanks a lot for the video. I think that I can’t really learn to simflight with a GPS in front of me. The G530/430 are bad companions, but the omnipresent MSFS G1000 is worst. If you can fly with two radios, ADF and DME, you can feel the right stuff, IMO.

Really useful & you explain this stuff so well, thanks. It would be good to see links to your similar navigation-by-instrument videos - there was a similar one in the fog around S California that I can't find.

I watched quite a few of your vidoes on ILS, VFR, IFR, etc. This is the first one I've watched where you're using head tracking, is this a recent change for your vids? I use TrackIR and it makes a huge difference, though fiddling with dials can be hard with Legacy or even Lock mode. Any tips? I thinking removing zoom from mouse scroll wheel since I tend to accidentally miss dials and do that all the time.

Yes - I've been trying out the Tobii eye tracker. The main lesson is to lean in to instruments - make them bigger on the screen - they you're less likely to move your head :) Eye tracking might actually help with that too - I'm still figuring it all out.

Nice one Jonathan, but you did exceed the Gear Down Speed when you lowered the gear. Keep up the great videos.

By the way, the speeds on the Comanche are in miles per hour, not knots. 😜

@@Gilles45 I had that discussion with a very good friend of mine in Canada. He owns a Comanche 180 HP. He says his is in knots and they never talk M.P.H. in the avaiation crowd he hangs out with. Just FYI. 😁

@@wilga80 Well the one in MSFS is in mph. Read the manual that comes with the A2A Comanche. I did, cover to cover, did you? All of the charts are in mph and so is the airspeed gauge.

Really great video and commentary but you surprised me when you mention you always forget to prime and I noticed you forgot to turn on your fuel pump for takeoff. You should use the checklist! Then you can’t forget!
