First Look at the Black Square Analogue King Air 350 in Microsoft Flight Simulator

It's finally here! I take the Black Square Analogue King Air 350 for a spin in Microsoft Flight Simulator - starting it up from cold and dark, and doing a simple circuit. The avionics in the King Air are now perhaps the most accurate in the simulator - expect more videos over the coming days and weeks :)

It's finally here. Despite watching a few videos on it, it's quite overwhelming when you first get into it. There are so many dials, etc. but it's wonderful like you said. Also, as you probably know via email, they updated the steam gauge Caravan to 1.3. Nice video, Jason. I hope you another on it soon.

I bought the Analogue King Air and the first airport of my Simmer career (Wycombe Airfield). And you can guess three times why I did that. Greetings from southern Germany

Pretty late to this party, but great video man. I absolutely love the King Air. Its always been my favorite GA plane to fly and BS has done a great job with this analog version that matches all the older sims I played. This one is super finicky and i couldnt get it to start up for the life of me even following the checklists, yoh simplified this quite well so thank you.

Thanks for the initial preview, I guess there is a very comprehensive manual somewhere? Have you had an opportunity to determine if there are any cosmetic animations, doors chocks etc. Clearly some quality time is probably needed to tread and digest the POH, I have purchased so looking fwd to detailed reading of systems etc. Thanks again, let’s hope I can do the fantastic rendition of the KA justice. Hi Jonathan, Really impressed with this aircraft, although it broke after the 1st update. Just Flight support were excellent though and turned round a fix within hours (and based on their published hours this was all done out of hours); can’t praise there support enough. So I followed your tutorial and flight almost exactly today and must say what a positive approach this was from the other types of content readily available. They are good also but this was a tad different and for me very enjoyable also. Thanks for sharing.

This isn't about the flight model although many of the changes have resulted in an improvement in that area, for sure.

I have only had a couple of flights with this magnificent beast so far, but what I can tell from the flight model is that it is a lot more fun to hand fly now with the changes. It feels heavier than the default, which seems appropriate to me. I would definitely say that even though Black Square is being modest about it and it's really just an improvement of the default flight modelling, it has very much improved! It only shows that the aerodynamic simulation in MSFS is very capable in the right developer hands.

The flight model is being tweaked right now - an update just arrived a few minutes ago that corrects the ground handling to not accelerate.

My only issue with this version is the lighting in the gauges. Not realistic as per the real analogue gauge lighting in the King Air.

@@jonbeckett That’s fine Jon ! I appreciate all work you’re putting into Virtual Aviation. I copied word for word so I’ve got an easy way of getting quickly airborne with King Air 350i. Couldn’t work out why avionics wouldn’t light up. Monkey see, monkey do, just like in this video….just wouldn’t work, until I installed latest PMS50 GTN750 patch. All good now !

They are pretty equal. I think the Bonanza is probably the most fun. The King Air has the most to do. The Caravan is the most versatile.

If you lost all power mid-flight it probably means you didn't switch the generators/alternators on - so you ran out of battery power.

Any idea why as soon as I turn on the AP the plane banks max to the right?

No idea. I have noticed the autopilot gyros take some time to settle down - especially if they have been trimmed by something else. You may find you have something bound to a trim control somewhere that is trimming the plane all the time.

@@jonbeckett yeah its not trim though as soon as I engage the AP I can see the yoke snap hard to the max right.

I have the mod and don't use FSRealistic and I get that rattling - this mod has a lot of those types of touches. The devs did a good job building a lot of extras into this plane.

Hi Johnathan 2 questions. Have you tried the GTN750 as my one is blank. I have deleted and reinstalled the latset PMS5 file. Sencond question how did you get the pilot and co pilot to show up? Cheers.

If you're in the drone view, the pilot and copilot show up until you get too close to them. I slowed the drone camera down to make it useable inside the aircraft :)

I'm really loving it, though I have to say I'm sad my existing King Air liveries aren't compatible. Hopefully someone has found a workaround?!

I rarely use liveries, because they cause too many problems.
