Today we're taking a first look at the Phenom PH100 developed by Cockspur, and available from their website. I have written up a first-draft of a functional procedure to start the aircraft up from cold and dark - link below:

Not at all surprised about the popularity of this aircraft. I only wish that they had also modeled the 300 as well. I feel that quite a few of us are far more interested in business jets than developers think.

SO happy that they modeled the auxiliary keypad for the Garmin. As a VR user this makes interacting with the G1000 so much nicer. I was upset recently with a newer aircraft I bought where this panel doesn't work, and their excuse seems to both be "It isn't supported in the sim or No one needs it anyway" depending on when you ask them. Clearly it IS doable in the sim because here it is!

ELT is the Emergency Locator Transmitter, all planes have it. It basically sends a sound or frequency on unicom 121.5 and it lets other aircraft know that you crashed. It activated after the it feels the airplane hit a certain amount of Gs I believe.

I have been watching your vids for a bit...I appreciate your inclusion of engine sounds into your videos. So many other creators will just wipe out sounds or include music(aaaaaaargh) and they lose me so quick. Thks again.

Thanks for the ride Jon, I have bought it and made my maiden flight yesterday:) Beautiful bird she is! Besides the exterior sound levels and the painfully long travel times for the flaps, another annoying thing was me being unable to find a way to switch from Mach to knots at the bottom of the speed tape. 75 kts at touchdown was impressive. Jonathan, small nitpick but the documents and videos I´ve seen of engine start has the pilot starting eng 2 (right) first, when stable crank nr 1. :) Starting both at the same time would put a large load on the battery. Thanks for the video!

Am so glad you feel the same way over instrument views!!! I've just purchased this aircraft, and I came to the same decision to create custom views for instrument views. Seems like the Dec's have used the pilot views to show off the interior of the aircraft, rather than giving helpful instrument views preloaded!!!

Thank you for this very informative tutorial. Regarding the cumbersome adjusting of the target alttude, asigning keys or buttons to increase and decrease alt makes things much easier. I sm doing this since FSX times for any plane.

Jonathan, great review, I purchased this aircraft a couple of days ago ... a cpl of things ... (Cockspur, please also take note) ... 1) The G1000 doesn't work quite the same as in your "Beginners guide to programming airways and procedures into the G1000 in Microsoft Flight Simulator" ... I found I could not get the FMS dials to work on the MFD. The work around I used was to do the programming on the PFD. The Flight plan will show on the MFD but you can't do anything to it, not even scroll thru it. Couldn't seem to get the touchpad keys to do much on the keypad below the MFD either. Maybe an idea for a future vid ... how to flightplan in the Phenom 100 🙂 2) I find the aircraft takes off and flies great, right up to the last 300' trying to land ... then it seems to float all over the place and very hard to control trying to land. I can centerline the Citation all day but not this one ... not sure if it's the programming of the craft or something I need to change in my controls? 3) As noted in your review the warning comes on randomly on the PFD (nothing in the dialogue box when you look in it) 4) No spoilers? Love the aircraft, just needs some fine tuning. Thanks again for your awesome vids👍

I believe only the Phenom 100E has spoilers although they could be available to retrofit in earlier models.

Thanks again for the interesting ride. The OAT was visible bottom left corner of the G1000. I'm very surprised too at the absence of any stall warning sound, though the jet just appeared to drop its nose gently and almost instantly recover. More of a safe mush than a wing drop....

It may be they haven't implemented stall warnings yet. I'm going to do a refresher on the G1000 soon - going through all of it's functionality, and how to program flights properly. It's pretty amazing, isn't it :)

I've found a comment a while ago. If I remember well, it has something to do with the spurs of the cock/rooster being aggressive in a fight etc, if that makes any sense:)

Just a tip, if you click on the PFD options softkey (at the bottom of the PFD), there is an option to set your altimeter to STD, saves you having to scroll to set it manually everytime

Ahh - now when I win the lottery, the phenom 100 is my dream (literally) aircraft. :) Love the cockpit. Embraer have their sh*t together. I recall one vid (real life not sim) the pilot saying he was going to rotate more than you might expect or else you blow through the max speeds for the flaps before you can retract them.

ELT is connected to the SAR-Satellite rescue System. I believe. Once it's activated it gives your position to the nearest S and Rescue facilities.

The Flaps take about 42 seconds from Up to Full, and that is accurate to the real aircraft.

Do the flaps and map range work with this plane on the Xbox series X? The Phenon 300 is just useless in those areas.

Jonathan, thank you for your honesty in reviewing so many aircrafts. I have a question for you…., what app do you use to get multiple in one ? Such as flight sim, lil’ nav map and obs simultaneously in one “bar”? Thanks for sharing.

It's built into Windows - press ALT+TAB when running multiple applications, and it toggles between them. Hold ALT down, and repeatedly press TAB.

Try holding shift while increasing altitude knob, it increases quicker.

My first flight it missed the glide slope when the G1000 was set to GPS. Second attempt I switched the cdi to LOC1 and it found the Glide slope ok.

It's easy - move the camera to where you want it, then press CTRL+ALT+num. To use the view, press ALT+num.

@@jonbeckett Trouble is i use a controller :P, so i need to be able to cycle custom views with the dpad which i think i could set up, but then i'd also have to set up every view on every plane i use and some of them are fine.

if you were in the market for a new sim Business Jet would you go for this or the SWS Learjet 35A?

If I wanted something that will eventually be full-fidelity, study level, then the Learjet (the developer is well known for making great aircraft, and carrying on updating). There are already very good business jets around though - such as the Honda Jet, and the C510.

@@jonbeckett Yeah I've got the Honda Jet, Vision Jet, and PMDG 737-800 which comes with a BBJ variant. I was just looking for something bigger than a Vision jet, but smaller than a 737 and have been eyeballing that Learjet. I do chase full fidelity, so I think that might be the ticket!

I flew it yesterday and when switching to exterior, the noise is deafening. Perhaps they will adjust it in the future.

Don't bother. Cockspur is awful. The far superior FSReborn is doing the 300 and they did the Piper M500 and Sting S4 that are currently in the Sim.

What do you mean another G1000? there are only 15 aircraft available for MSFS that have G1000's. I want to see more.

Given this plane like many others FSR500 for example reliy on the amazong WT Avionics it is limited by that. WT have done amazing work on the avionics and people are taking that for granted. If the likes of say the FSR or many other planes were using the old default ones the planrs would be trash, if developers had to do the work WT have done we would be paying £80 - £100 per plane. Lets not all forget this. WT will continue to improve it and devs can customise it, although i feel many devs shy away from that? At the end of the day having all the avionics done makes development cheaper and thus we get cheaper planes. The WT is i would say study level.

i dont think it could be called study level unless all the avionic are simulated via ARINC protocol communication, I think only the hot start CL60 is study level in terms of avionic as it simulates ARINC protocol

Developer Marwan Gharib has been working on the HJet for Microsoft Flight Simulator for the best part of three years and decided to work with FlightFX for publication duties. This NOT FlightFX creation. It was a freeware before they agreed to publish it. Their Cirrus VisionJet however is a ground up Collaboration between Cirrus, Microsoft, Asobo and FlightFX.@@KAPAFlyer
