Very eloquently put from Stefan. I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know he was a commenter but I thought he did such a good job explaining his perspective and I think he was on the money with his takes.

It would appear that nothing that happened at MSG this weekend bothered Tom in anyway. I think hes got this.

I was also happy to see how confident Aspinall was that the ufc will make the fight after chatting to Dana and Hunter on Sunday morning. It sounds like they are going to give Jones his bag to make happen.

I have Jon Jones ranked #3 in the heavyweight division right now behind Ngannou & Aspinall and he will need more fights to move up into being in the top five in the all-time heavyweight list.....

couldn't agree more, all he did was beat people Ngannou already beat years after him, any top 10 HW would give Stipe problems looking as slow as he did

Who cares? He's on the far more important list in the all Time greats

Views on Jones are normally pretty divisive, to some he beat every former opponent, to others he lost to Reyes and Santos, but for the first time it seems the entire MMA community is united in condemning his attitude to fighting Tom.

meh. if you fight long enough, you'll get the fights that ppl think you lost or fights that ppl think are flukes (gsp vs hendricks, volk vs max 2, usman vs covington 2, etc.). tom's done everything he's supposed to do and the ufc should do everything they can to make that fight happen, but there's nothing wrong with jon jones, the arguable goat, saying he wants goat money for his fights

It's easy to spot a hater/fake fan.Because they have total disrespect for both jones and stipe.

Why is Dan Hooker not getting a shout for a title shot or a number one contender . 3 great wins in a row …including 2 high ranked guys. Hooker vs Oliveria for next title shot!

1. Pay Jones his F U Money (maybe with Abu Dhabi's help) 2. Do a World Press tour like they did for Aldo McGregor 3. Promote it as Jones' last fight and his chance to put an end to the GOAT debate forever 4. 1.5m+ ppv sales

Jones has always been massively overhyped. He spent the majority his career fighting blown up middleweights while he cut from heavyweight - he weighed more than prime stipe when he was at light heavy for example. Even Ignoring the steroids, this excludes him from the goat conversation.

I don't think Asakura was brought in to win, I think the UFC brought him in to lose, it's all to build the UFC's brand constantly, they don't want people from other promotions winning. Asakura is primarily a standup fighter, where as Pantoja has a durable chin and is skilled at getting people to the ground and laying on them, you are likely going to see Pantoja take him down and lay on him, and that's what the UFC matchmakers realise as well. If an entirely different person like Kai Kara France was the champion however, they would never bring in Asakura to have an instant title shot, because he could end up actually winning in that situation. It's all about matchmaking, and the UFC never want people from elsewhere to win, as it then hurts the UFC's brand as having the best fighters. The existence of Rizin is why you don't see good Japanese fighters often in the UFC, because most of them build their star in Rizin instead, and at that point the UFC don't want to sign most of them as they are "Rizin" fighters. If Rizin didn't exist, most of the stars in Rizin would have entered the UFC at an earlier time in their career and there would be way more Japanese fighters in the UFC and also they would have had UFC champions by now etc. But because of the UFC being so competitive in wanting to push the perception that other major promotions are trash and can't compete with the UFC, they can't afford to bring in too many people from those promotions and risk them beating UFC fighters, that's why the only time you will ever see such a thing is once in a blue moon when the UFC are very confident that they have a stylistic match that assures their guy will beat the guy from the other promotion.
