Harrison Ford and George Lucas were at this point very relieved to be done with Star Wars. Making Temple of Doom must have been cathartic. Although the heart-ripping sequence was written by Lucas while he was going through a divorce. When you learn that, the scene takes a...less-than-subtle metaphorical turn.

Awsome! Thanks for uploading this jewel. Its a must see. I love the way the old making ofs are filmed, the focus is really on filmmaking the filmmakers versus what seems to be all this flash and interviews of today, where we just see some bits and clips of the plateau. The only making of recently that is like this is the Phatom Menace one, its an awsome piece of backstage voyerism. The reason is that they actually had a team of young filmakers coming out of UCLA to do it.

I used to hate this movie out of all of the indiana jones movies because it scared the shit out of me as a kid. now I love it and it's one of my favorites.

this is fantastic, thanks for uploading. I've been dying to see it again since '84. After seeing it the first time I repainted my bespin Han Solo and tried to make a tiny rope bridge out of string and lollipop sticks. I had maybe 5 sticks, it didn't work out! I really miss documentaries like this

Does anyone know, where exactly in Kandy-Sri Lanka, was the Ravine scene filmed?.....heading there in a few months from Ireland. Have to been to Petra, Jordan before....where the temple at the end of Crusade was filmed, and Almeria, Spain....the scene in Crusade, where Sean Connery uses an umbrella to get rid of the birds into the Nazi fighter

the ravine is right next to the victoria dam. The village was a set and has been swallowed by the jungle.

Why the hell they couldn't shoot in India? Though, India has myriad of cultures and many ethnicities and languages but the first time I watched, I was like, " Uhh!! they don't look like Indians !" and when I searched on Google, as it turned out that it was shot in Sri Lanka and the language they were speaking was Sinhalese! This movie is so wrong about India.
@spellcasterduelist33287 жыл бұрын
Sanju Singh they shot this in Sri Lanka but the characters are Indians. The maharajah (Real name: Raj Singh) is a Indian actor and is also known for a film called 'Agneepath'. Mola ram (Real name: Amrish Puri) is also an Indian person known for his arts. Majority of them are Indian if you search more up. I am Indian and I saw how the spoke Sinhalese but they also spoke Hindi too!

And the India government didn't like how Lucas was portraying their people and country. They felt that it would give the viewing audience the wrong idea about the people and culture
@robertbaratheon33044 жыл бұрын
@@spellcasterduelist3328 Few actors were Indian and yes, Amrish Puri was a very famous and extremely talented Indian actor. But the caricatures portrayed by these Indian actors are not "Indian-like". No Maharaja used to eat monkey brains. Indians are generally vegetarian and even meat eaters (excluding North-Eastern ans Tribals) are restricted to mostly mutton, chicken and fish meat, and that too cooked in Indian curry made with a heavy dose of spices. And even Amrish Puri did not like the way Indians were portrayed in this movie. That is why he never did any other Hollywood movie.

@@robertbaratheon3304 Seems like everyone except white people are extremely sensitive to portrayals of race and culture in *scripted* and *fictional* Hollywood movies. Unless, of course, they're offended on someone else's behalf whom don't even really care in the first place. It's all ridiculous. These are fictional movies. That is all.

Spielberg is talking like he made this movie himself, "I would paint myself into a corner" What? I have read the book about the making of this film. It was a huge collaborative effort and many of the best ideas came from Kasden and Lucas, not Spielberg.
@rickalicious11164 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure he was referring to how to block and direct the action scenes.
