Striped Bass & Bluefish Blitzes! Rhode Island Fall Run Fishing 2022

Found an epic striper feeding frenzy, got quite a few bass and blues on topwater. Nothing big but you can't beat that action, thanks for watching!

my experience the stripers were always under the blues when they were together, picking off pieces...i'd try a heavier metal w. bucktail n let it sink before reeling...jmho....nice vid either way thank you!

I don’t think he’s gonna reveal his spots. Maybe hire him as a guide I saw one of his videos and he talked about how he was doing that now. He’s probably more in the bay in spring and out towards the open ocean later in the season. I do remember one fall in the bay where there were blitzes and seagulls diving in the bay around Warwick LITERALLY as far as the eye could see. All blues though. Still fun.

typically on the yak I use 20-30 pound braid with a 30 or 40 pound fluorocarbon leader

What kind of kayak are you using right now I'm in the market of buying one an old timer a 10 footer or 13 footer I was just wondering if you bring if you are looking for a buddy to fish with it's gonna be the 1st time I've ever used a kayak

we never see any of those Big bluefish anymore down here in the middle Chesapeake, all i catch are little snappers maybe 14" max I havent seen anything of size for blues in over 30 years

Awesome watching them blitz bud, great video seriously! I fish out of Boston (Charlestown) and I had a great season this year, I caught a ton of stripers this season. No bs/ fisherman tales lol, maybe 85 schoolies and 35 keepers all from inshore! At least 3 of those keepers were over 20lbs! Also got my personal best at 43in 22lbs, also have a pic of striper that is easily 5x the size of my 12 1/2 size sneaker! I didn't have my scale/tape w/ me cuz I was more just messing around towards the end of the season and caught a straight COW LOL

This year is insane for bait. In my 32 years this is by far the best i have seen...not many blues but more large stripers inshore than usual. Im just a bit north of rhode island...at the mouth of the cape cod canal. I found a blitz i thought had stripers and blues turned out to be blue crabs, large eels and sea turtles working the bait.

I noticed Johnny seems to have switched back to his old town kayak. I would like to know why and if he now prefers that to Hobie He was using earlier in the season. Also Johnny do you have any opinion of motorized versus pedal kayaks and have you ever considered switching to a powered model. Thanks

Both are great kayaks but I think I prefer the old town pedal drive over the hobie one

Pros and Cons to both brands. I really like the pedal drive in the Old Town it is smooth and really fast, also has instant reverse which is awesome
