Love the quality these inkjet printers produce for stencils. I previously had a Monochromatic version of this (black-only) and left it sitting for too long thus clogging the print heads. I’m in the market for a new one now and might actually go with one that has colour tanks instead - based on the way you were troubleshooting this problem it seems the other print heads dedicated to the colour tanks can be used as back ups for when the black one inevitably begins to clog. My question to you is: do all the tanks need to have ink in-order for this printer to print?

Hi Jono, what preventative maintenance would you suggest so that this issue doesn't arrive in the first place? Just topping off the tank when ever it gets down to half full? Also, how many bottles of ink does it take to fill all the tanks? I'm just about ready to buy this product in a bundle and it's expensive for me so the information provided really helps. This printer would save me so much time vs my thermal printer. Thanks for answering in advance!

I wouldn't leave the printer stood too long without using it, by that i mean if you're not busy never leave it a few weeks. Always run some stencils off to keep things flowing. A bottle of stencil ink will completely fill the black tank and should 1/2 fill the 3 colour tanks.

Hi, I got an Epson EcoTank M2120 monochrome, tried to initialize it with stencil ink and didn’t work from the start, or sometimes printing some faded pages. I eventually cleaned the tank and added black ink to see if the issue is with the printer as it was new and it worked. Any tips on if I can eventually make it work?

Get Pacon stencil paper 500 sheets they sell it on Amazon for about $30 you will need to buy a paper cutter and chop about half an inch so it can fit through the printer feed.

Do you use all your tanks pretty frequently? I see some videos of people putting enough in the colored tanks just to “trick” the machine they are filled. I just got mine and trying to make it last as long as possible

So when power cleaning, do you fill up the other tanks with stencil ink as well? You mention that they need to be 1/3 filled but did not say what you use. I have been using an Epson ET 2720, it was working great for a long time until I forgot to refill the BK tank. Since then it has not printed properly, I have used a cleaning solution and kit for the printer head and nozzle, and made sure that the ink can flow smoothly from the tank to the damper. It still prints incredibly weak, so I believe I should do the power clean to hopefully fix this? pls help!

Unfortunately no, a normal printer won't print stencils. You need an eco tank printer which needs to be filled with stencil ink.

I did this and ruined the printer. even if you print in just black, the printer uses dark blue printer ink and other colors. So you will dilute your stencil by putting regular printer ink in the colored tanks. Found this out the hard way @@JonoSmithTattoo

Have you used the printer cleaner sheets? I used them to revive my old HP office jet all in one. It was having issues even with the normal cleaning method via the printer menus and fresh ink cartridges. They are soaked in cleaning solution and it runs through like paper to clean the heads. I'm saving up for a monochromatic ecojet.

There is colour in my tanks, it’s just low at the moment. It’s probably best to space the ink out between them, then you can use the hack if it gets blocked or prints faint.

You can fill all the tanks with stencil ink if you want to it won't really harm anything. You might be struggling if you've added colour ink in the tanks. Hopefully you haven't tried to print anything yet with the colour added. I would just run a load of plain A4 paper through it with different designs to try clear it if it's not printing properly

Use rex instead black isnt a fix, btw i like the video, plan to get l3210, but i will use stencil only in black, and regular colors for the 3 others, then use the printer for both, stencil ink in black tank, and regular print with 3 regular colors, using the option to create black mixing 3 colors, better than have 2 printers

had my mono printer little over a year now, got the gentian violet ($7 versus 100 or more) and it worked great but when I refilled it, I thought I broke the thing. ran a print head cleaning a few times got nowhere. sat all over youtube looking and came across sublimation printer repairs. bleed pages fixed my problem after a few solid purple pages, it fixed and was running darker than ever!

I have the Epson 2803 model and all of the ink that’s coming onto the stencil paper is not all stencil ink. Some of the ink is actual printer ink. I drained the cartridges and the tubes, but that did not help.

Hey mate, I was having same problem too, what solved my problem was to go to print preferences and selecting Photo Paper Glossy on the paper type. I am also using Inject stencil paper, they are the best. I hope it will help you.

I can't find anything about using stencil ink inside the Cyan tank and make my designs pure 100% Cyan color so the printer have to use the Cyan tank filled with stencil ink. And use the black color in the BLK tank so I can print normal stuff for me and my kids.

There's no junk in the bottom of your gas tank. The fuel lubricates and cooles the motor on the fuel pump. Low fuel no lubrication and more heat which causes your fuel pump to burn out. But junk on the bottom of the tank sounds good to me. I get the point.

I’ve never had a problem with them fading to be honest. I’ve used pretty much all mediums and found these to be great with Electrum Gold primer. Granted you’ll never get stencil like you will with good old hectograph paper but the time I save with these is worth the trade off. Thanks for watching!
