Jonsbo N2 review. Better than the N1?

A quick review of the Jonsbo N2 case. I like it quite a bit better than the N1! Seems like a great little starter case for a NAS or home labers alike.

Fan is loud because it’s plugged into the backplane. Move that to the motherboard fan header instead. Was the same on the N1

Thanks for the info! Starting my NAS build and liked the design of the N1, but the N2 seems to offer more in airflow around the drives.

If controlling fan speed is a problem and runs at 100% all the time, you can also buy one of those fan cables that has a 12 ohm resistor inside. It'll not only slow down the fan speed, but also run quiet. Cheaper than buying another fan like Noctua just to run quiet

This video couldn’t of come at a better time. I almost bought the N1 a few days ago but I wasn’t fully satisfied with any case I found. This is exactly the case I was looking for.

Thanks for getting this review up so soon after the case's release. It let me make a proper decision. Mine just delivered yesterday and I built the system today. It's the case I've been waiting a long time for.

*mentions the fan is loud: oh he’s probably gonna switch it to a Noctua fan to be quieter 1min later: “he’s gonna switch it too a Noctua fan so it’s quieter” i’m so glad everyone’s on the same page

Overall I like this. It's generally a much better design than the N1 in function, although I did like the aesthetic of the N1 a bit better (heavily inspired by the Thor Zone Mjolnir SFF case). The N2 just winds up looking a little too much like a black cube, just like most generic prebuilt NAS units, which is a little uninspiring for a fully DIY system.

hm would have been interesting to see a version with 2 extra disk slots in place of the PSU space, with some ergonomic provision to facilitate an external brick-style PSU with a pico-PSU adapter setup. Internal power supplies feel like a waste of space and thermal budget. Or keep it 5-disks and reduce the size.

There are 2 power sata connections so I am wondering if only 1 is required.

Of course it would be useless. It has a SATA backplane which would be totally wasted and you can't use a full height gpu either.

Yes. By design it is meant to attach to a header on the SATA backplane with no control and running at 100% all the time. But the fan's cable is long enough to route up to the motherboard and a spare fan header.

@@QuangNguyen-pt5qq Check the fan speed settings in your BIOS and/or whatever fan control software is in your operating system. I can't offer any more help than that because the specifics of every system are different.

@@davidg5898 thank you so much David. I change the main and found that the fan is less loud than that before (the previous main is b460i strix and the current main is q170 asus, I plug directly into main in the both case.

@@SNRTechBytes good to know that it fits since it’s listed as having a height of 66mm, but the N2 has a max height of 65mm!
