Call of Duty is a fickle game franchise, that will change a setting on a whim then ride that said change until everybody is sick and tired of it. We're seeing that for ww2 at the moment, they are going to milk it dry until players start to complain more. Rinse and repeat... What needs to maybe be considered is for Activision to part ways with the franchise and begin another fresh one, but this will never happen. It makes the company millions of dollars annually and the game doesn't even have to be good, like my god some of the games are laughably bad for a AAA developer. In saying that, I think that the next call of duty game should be in the bin, instead Activision can focus on a game designed by Conan O'Brien "I wish it involved a guy taking a walk trying to find a cookie. I wish there was only two buttons, one go forward, and the other eat cookie". That masterpiece of a description would far outclass any of the garbage Activision are churning out.

Infinite warfare was ok. It had pretty interesting ideas but none seemed fully realized and I chalk that up to its connection to an IP with a preexisting formula. Like if it hadn’t been forced to fit the mold of all previous CoD games and was allowed to flesh out the mechanics and worldbuilding I think it would have been much better off and probably a way better game. (Bonus points for having the best zombies mode in terms of level design! Space land looks so cool! Loses those points because besides that it’s the worst zombies mode in every other department of gameplay)

I think the reason Infinite Warfare was hated was because of how "similar" it looked to Halo. I don't remember the exact details, and this was years ago, but I do remember disliking the trailer too because of that uhh issue. It was indeed wack.

It was because it was the fifth game in the franchise in a row to feature a futuristic setting. That’s five years and fans saw the same recycled formula (with some animations reused from as far back as MW2). That was the primary reason people were up in arms over it. Not to mention the only way to get Modern Warfare Remastered was to buy a bundle of both games for $80. But hindsight is 20/20, and with how bad microtransactions and live service has been, I don’t think people would have knocked this trailer as much as we did.

One of my favorite COD experiences, and quite possibly the last Fun by definition experiences in COD I've had since (mw19 was GOOD, but not fun) There was a million different ways to play, and it's campaign is one of the most captivating I've ever experienced. With a bonus mode unlocked after completion. Sadly, it suffered from the Halo-Boomers. You know the kind, screaming about everything that isn't a copy/paste from the first installment. And we got one of, if not the worst CODs immediately afterwards as a result of the vocal minority and their demands for "boots on ground" and "back to roots". Of course, the zombies mode sucked, but considering how it was a Warfare installment, there should have been a spec-ops/survival instead anyway. Fuck it, I'm gonna download again

I played it, it was ok. Cool concepts that seemed watered down due to its connection with the CoD IP. I’d say that if it was allowed to be it’s own thing and truly flesh out the setting, mechanics, lore, etc. it’d have been way better.

I can tell you, that's not why people were mad about that, guaranteed. Honestly, I disliked the game because it was "just another call of duty" that came out a year later than the previous one and I wouldn't be surprised if many fans felt the same way. Most series get a sequel maybe every few years. CoD has been nonstop since 2003. One game every year for over 19 years. Nobody asked for that. And nobody asked for Call of Duty Infinite Warefare.

But you could try to extract information from the formations of pixels and maybe even draw conclusions about the internal workings of the engine. Like. I dunno... gameplay, mechanics, world building, atmosphere, sound design and how the game evolved compared to previous iterations. Oh, damn, following that thought, it might even be possible to transform whole storylines into pixel formations, if there just was a way to move pixels around on the screen in a way that conveys information.
