This is a re-upload of the same video I posted two days ago, which was taken down because of a copyright issue with music I had in the video.

Joola intentionaly manufactured core crushed paddles they knew had a very limited lifespan in order to provide immediate power from compromised cores. The big problem to me that they sold these compromised paddles without telling the buyers that they were designed to fail. Why would I buy from a company that demonstrated that disregard for their customer not to mention circumventing the rules?
@kabob21Ай бұрын
Because they’d been doing it long before the gen 3 paddles. The gen 2 Perseus and Hyperion C2 were also treated to the same core process.
@austinbarnes376424 күн бұрын
Exactly. I've had the same problem. They also will not replace more than one core crushed paddle. $300 is a lot of money for a paddle that won't last.

The xray comparison is next level John, keep on innovating! How do you think the 3S models will compare to the Ripples in terms of getting hotter?
@johnkewpickleballАй бұрын
Good question - the break-in on my Ripple is reminding me of the way the Gearbox PPE broke-in. It's noticeable, but it seems to be slowing and (hopefully) will level out before becoming too hot. We don't have enough data with the 3S's yet to know. They'll either do what JOOLA hopes, and become only slightly hotter, or worse case, they behave like the Gen-3's and break-in until they core corrupt. I'd be surprised if they had as many issues as the Gen-3s or Mods, because the core isn't compressed

I smack the crap out of the ball- I’ve been playing with the 3s Anna bright for a week and a half and I haven’t noticed a big difference. Ive had the ripple r2 a few days less and I’ve played with it less and it’s gotten much hotter. 3s is stiffer and easier to control, albeit less powerful.

Great video. Did you test swing weight, twist weigh etc.? I am considering ordering the 14mm AB paddle. I have a Mod Ta-15 on the way now. Also, the speed pro from Diadem. Oh, can you recommend a paddle company that uses grips with multiple bevels? Thank you.
@austinbarnes3764Ай бұрын
The Mod Tech - TA paddle I got core crushed/delaminated after 2 weeks of play. During that time, it continued to get hotter and hotter until it was uncontrollable. This is a well documented problem from many players online. Joola will only replace one paddle and will not honor a return on the replacement. Their other Gen 3 paddles were banned shortly after they sold them and now the Mod Tech paddle only lasts a few weeks. I would not recommend this paddle or Joola as a company.

100% I've gone thru 4 16mm perseus paddles. Each one developed a rattle after the first play session. Even had a paddle comes right out of the bubble pack from joola with a rattle. Despite the rattle the paddle plays well 🤷 this a

Comparing these to the Gearbox Pro Ultimate paddle, what would you say? Which do you prefer? 🤔
@johnkewpickleballАй бұрын
Both are good choices, but you definitely have more shape options with the 3S. So unless you like an elongated, narrow shape, I'd recommend the 3S

Did you end up customizing the CJ paddle at all? Trying to get mine to a nice point right now. Feel like the lead tape takes away what I like about the paddle

Did the paddle have to wear the lead apron around the handle for protection during the xray? 😅

Wrote to you before about a paddle suggestion….athletic 64 year old looking for a control paddle with more power and pop than Mach 2 Forza and Scorpius gen 2 14mm. I like spin. I’m down to 2….Scorpius 3s or Paddle tech ESQ. both in their thicker size. Any opinion for final decision. Money is not in the equation. Thank you. Adam

John I noticed you filmed in Lifetime and in a podcast you mentioned Lifetime wouldn’t let you do that - is this a video from before they wouldn’t let you or have you negotiated with them (I noticed no one was on the court t next to you). Great, great breakdown!

Based on your database, I just ordered a Scorpeus 3S, graduating into something a little hotter from my Gen 2 Scorpeus that I've come to love. The Ripple R2 was the other option in my mind - any reason to second-guess myself here?
@patrickhamning1734Ай бұрын
So Joola is going to continie to manufacture these easily core crushed paddles.

John did you get a chance to try the 14mm as well? Which one do you like better scorpeus 14 or 16?

I'm leaning toward the 16mm Collin. The 14mm Anna feels very stiff and pretty harsh IMO

If a paddle is louder when it hits a ball and if you shake it you can hear some grit shaking around is it bad?

@@mr.mr.3301 the louder sound could be an issue, but the sound when shaking is usually just loose glue, and not usually a problem

I think there is too much hype on paddles changing the game. Paddles will evolve as the game does. I think these paddles are great, got mine last week and have enjoyed it. It doesn't feel like it has too much power or is going to make me a 5.0 professional that will kill all competition just because I have it in my hand. My gameplay is what makes me a better player. A good paddle helps, and I think this is a good paddle, but in the end I think people are focused too much on how much or how fast these paddles are changing. The reality is they haven't changed that much and your basic pickleball gameplay stays pretty much the same, no matter which paddle you use. And $300 for a once a year purchase seems pretty cheap if you think about it. That is $25 a month. We spend way more than that on phones, streaming subscriptions, etc.
@test43913Ай бұрын
Love to see Joola flopping. Just goes to show they are a money grab company. Paying anywhere near $300 for a paddle is crazy.
