Joolca Hot Tap Nomad Kit Review

Review of the Joolca Hot Tap Nomad Kit as used on my InTech Flyer Explore travel trailer.
Overall a recommend although it requires some effort to adapt it to your purposes, and it is a bit finicky to operate.

Thank you for a very thorough review. I appreciate you sharing your experience with the Joolca system as regards your set up a d experience with the kit . I have the Joolca Nomad system and use it for outdoor showers ( testing the system out for when we get back outdoors camping) and for washing my pup. My experience with the water heater has been a little different as regards the heat settings. My water comes from a city water line connected to the system via a garden hose. So I have plenty of pressure and because the temp of the water is cold I have kept the water flow at a medium to low setting but the heat at full. This way I get hot water 104 degrees with good pressure. If I add more water flow, the temperature is not warm e ough for a shower. I suspect that if the water were stored in a tank above 70 degrees temp, I might have to lower the temp setting. Also I have the Joolca duplex en-suite and am working out how to put the temp controls accessible. In the stand , the system is too low for access. Placing it all on a table may do the trick so long as I can keep the system stable. Ordered Melnor quick connect set. I was searching for these so am super thrilled to come upon your video. Again, well thought out, clear and exceedingly helpful video . If only I had cool springs nearby 😀... No such luck out in the Tucson desert climate.

In my opinion this is the best hottap review I’ve seen. Very open and honest about the product with handy tips👍🏽👍🏽. I wanted to talk more about the 60psi not being achieved for the water to go through the system. I was just wondering the reason as to why this was not achieved? Joolca claim that their pump can pump 20m at a 1.5m rise. At this particular location was it that the rise was greater than this therefore not enabling 60psi? Thanks

Thanks for the feedback! AS I've used it more I've found it easier to work around the quirks and I like it more now than when I did my first review.. The rise here was about 2 meters or so, so I suspect I would not have been able to achieve 60 psi consistently enough to keep the burner going in the hot water heater.

I noticed you use used a different water line in a couple different areas on your system. Are they the same hose size as the joolca system? If the water lines are larger than the joolca system you could have a flow problem. Why? Because when you add a larger diameter your pump will need to handle a larger flow to fill the pipe and try to hold pressure. That could be why you are not getting much of a volume change when you turn the flow up.

Great observation. All the hoses used are OEM supplied except the splitter, which has a slightly larger internal diameter. Not enough to be to blame for the water pressure being slightly low.

Yeah you definitely have a problem with yours because I can take 15 minute showers with mine… and sometimes my wife does.
