I am so thankful that Thrift Shop became popular because it helped me to find all of Macklemore's other wonderful, meaningful, and powerful music. Because of Thrift Shop, I am a true Macklemore fan.

This Man is the truth! Living life as a role model, it's hard to preach anti drugs/alcohol when you do it yourself. It's hard to tell people that they need to check their relationship with it. At times if feels like it's non of your business. .

A real fan of Macklemore is someone who supports him 100% no matter what, not someone who knew him before "Thrift Shop"(That just means you're online a lot). But yeah I found out about him through "Thrist Shop" & I absolutely love this man & support him in what ever. He ia such a great role model & his music speaks to me. So you're wrong when you say that . I love him way too much for that to be true...

I had never heard of Macklemore before Thriftshop. Heard it. Liked it. Looked it up. Found Macklemore. Looked up his other stuff. Got new favourite artist. So yeah I am a thrift shop fan. maybe its not his best song but without it a good amount of his fans would never have found this amazing and talented artist. I wouldn't be replying to you if I hadn't found you! :) Oh and your comment that is the 7th i have found on Macklemore videos. RIP originality! :)

I love this!!! Its so true. He's not perfect and he embraces that. And he wants his music to reflect all aspects of him. No one can be all activist all the time. Word.

I learned of Macklemore through Thrift Shop on the radio and so far I love everything that he has put out. But some of the comments on here are ridiculous, who the hell cares if we know him because of Thrift Shop. He's just one of those artists that doesn't put himself out in public being an attention starved celebrity and I give him credit for that.

Can I point something out? I see people treating a sudden flux of views as a bad thing, that Macklemore getting on the radio and attracting a slew of new fans is bad. Not everything has be meaningful, sometimes you just gotta have fun. If having a fun song is how an artist like this attracts more people to his better, more meaningful music, why is that bad? You should be celebrating the fact that he's getting the appreciation he deserves. Pretension just makes you seem petty.

@vistoetry its easy to see where youre coming from when you can hear a song like this from him compared to his song we danced. two completely different ends of the playing field. I love it when he raps about whats on his mind the demons hes facing and the struggles we deal with, not so much on the songs about nothing. but if you compare his songs about nothing to other rappers out there are his songs any different. and yet they get million dollar record deals to rap about bs.

Just because you found out about him through Thrift Shop doesn't mean you aren't a real fan! Every one of his fans had to hear about him from one song or another. Its irrelevant which one. He probably put that song out with that ridiculous video so he could get exposure which is exactly what he got and now his fan base has widened. So be happy and embrace your fellow fans. Don't diss them because they know Macklemore from Thrift Shop and you know him from Stay @ Home dad!!!

@freaklifeform So, was it Ryan Lewis who created this self-aware, socially concious, work of art? Or was this Macklemore before he met the man? Know your history, and don't hate on an artist who's worked his ass off to do things his on his own ternms. Not to hate on Lewis, because Vs. Redux and everything since has been amazing, but still, don't diss the Mack.

I am a thrift shop fan. The first time I heard of Macklemore was because I heard Thrift Shop on the radio. I liked Thrift Shop so i searched other music y him. I love him! And I have seen comments like yours on just about every Macklemore video other than Thrift Shop and it is annoying. Thrift Shop gained him many of "one song likers" fans and fans that looked into more of his music. Either way he gained fans and more fame. I am personally tired of comments like yours.

Why do you hate Thrift Shop? That song made Macklemore more known, is that a bad thing? If you understand the letter you will realise that he is talking about making fun of people that buy cloth because of it's brands, like a parody, it's fun. Not all the songs that are comercial, are meant to be bad or without a good letter. (I'm sorry if I have some bad grammar, english is not my first language).
