This is perfect timing because I JUST finished House of Hunger and about to start The Weight of Blood

I finished House of Hunger last night because of this video. I’m so glad that Marion never lost her questioning and defiant nature even though she was in an intimidating atmosphere. The horror is palpable and insidious. This seems to be an allegory for abusive/ toxic relationships. As someone who has been through a bad relationship, I can feel this on a personal level.

🩸🩸🩸 Now I want both of these books! Btw, I LOVE the music you use in the B roll. I was here for the pumpkins as well! I LOVE Halloween!

I am so excited about this video. I loved both of these books so much. They are literally sitting side by side on my bookshelf. What i actually got from The Weight of Blood is that Maddy is born into a life that she has no control over. She carries the blood of a black woman that she tries to hide...and the blood of a parent that has abilities the world would never understand or accept. It's kinda like "heavy is the head that wears the crown"....she has to bear what she was born into.

I loved House of Hunger. I kind of knew what was going on because of the name Bathory (iykyk, if you don’t know, don’t google it until after you read HoH) but it was still so good.
@pumpkinschannel7772 жыл бұрын
Yeah, as soon as I saw the name Bathory in the book I figured out what was happening, but I wasn't mad about it! I House of Hunger was really good and even though I expected vampires I loved the direction the author took it!

My book club and I just read The Weight of blood... and we had a lot to say about the ending haha but about the twist at the end I feel like we need more if Maddy's parents history like we were missing ancestral history that needed to be explored more. The book was amazing and did what it was supposed to do but would've loved that and a better ending! I am looking forward to the House of Hunger now

*** SPOILER *** We also thought it would of been a nice twist if Tanya from the podcast was Maddy

🩸 Those twists at the end are a specialty of Tiffany D. Jackson. ***Spoilers to follow*** I was invested in thinking that her mother was a witch. But, honestly having her magic passed down from her father’s side of the family made her father make more since. It’s why he was broken and afraid of her. He was afraid she would be like his mother, who was the real racist and terror of the family. Her cared about her the most twisted of ways. I just can’t understand why he would make her dress in her grandmother’s clothes! His mind was a mess!! Also, Tiffany D Jackson is really good at making you think one thing or care about a certain character, then pulling the rug out from underneath you. I would highly recommend Monday’s Not Coming and Allegedly.

Yes I think you would enjoy other Tiffany D Jackson books… many psychological thrillers that will have you angry and ready to discuss. Just know I will be here to listen to you rant lol. Starting with Grown or Monday’s not coming.

Can I ask why some of the books are turned around and some are not? Is it for the look or a way to track read or unread books?
