Jack Ketchum (Dallas Mayr irl) was a very close friend of mine and the nicest man I’ve ever known. That said, he wrote some of the most fucked up shit. So, if you dig Off Season, there are two follow-ups to it; Offspring and The Woman (which he wrote with horror director Lucky McKee). Also, there is a short story called The Work in his collection Peaceable Kingdom that directly correlates to Off Season. All worth reading. If you want some extra fucked up shit, try his books Ladies Night and Right to Life. Also, give Monica O’Rourke’s book Suffer the Flesh a spin. She has been known to co-write with Wrath James White if you want an idea of how truly dark she can get. Welcome to splatter punk, dude!!
