I think no matter how many WORLD championships these guys have their Olympic gold medals are what means the most to them! An Olympic gold medalist like Burroughs, Sanderson, Snyder and Taylor is an elite group! These guys are MACHINES!!! To win an Olympic gold medal in such a truly tough sport takes a true warrior!

@@greuju If you had wrestled at the college level or higher you would realize that most wrestling fans can name 10 Olympic gold medal wrestlers but none can name 3 world title holders. distance runners don't usually decline until 35 or later. I think the reason there's not many older wrestlers before now is, at least in the US, there wasn't much money in it. Social media and licensing rights, as well as using social media to draw people to practice centers has made it a lot easier to keep going. I think Dake and Taylor will be around a while longer, too. Snyder, too, if nobody challenges him....and Cox. Hard to think of anyone at 74 and higher who won't stay around.

U.S., Russia, and Iran produce the greatest wrestlers in the world. If the leaders of all 3 of these countries were big wrestling fans, many of the world’s tensions would disappear.

Knowing nothing outside of high school wrestling, all these whistles make no sense. 3:20 in and so far every time there is an engagement the ref just blows the whistle and puts them back at neutral. Shot gets stuffed, doesn’t even give him time to spin to his back, just blows whistle and starts neutral. So it’s a whistle if they’re doing anything other than just standing there or if the takedown isn’t perfectly clean without resistance? If someone would like to explain I’d appreciate it. I’m just worried because I’ve seen sports getting watered down to pathetic and I hope it doesn’t happen to wrestling. Tried to watch a basketball game but only made 30 seconds (or 3 whistles) in before realizing how we went from Shaq to LeBron.

Freestyle encourages action on the feet. With regard the the shot that was stuffed, neither wrestler tried to improve their position. The both seems to want the restart so the referee accommodated them.

So Burroughs shoots three times and gets in on his opponent’s legs-even if he didn’t finish any of those attempts-yet gets put on the activity clock first, while the Iranian is basically circling and stalling? Yeah, that’s a pretty bad call. Oh well, doesn’t matter because Burroughs still won 🥇
