Yes, This is called a Jack and Jill Competition. There are a couple ways that it develops but the lady and the man are determined by a hat draw. Then they are paired up and assigned a piece of music. The contestants often have met but are not regular partners. Amazing that dances like this get invented as they walk out on the floor.

Pofonok (kicsit durva, elnézést) és vélemények között van különbség természetesen. Yes! I went to a social east coast swing dancing event every week during my senior year of college. Sadly I’ve found it hard to find videos of this style online. West coast seems to be much more prevalent

Yes, there are several styles of Swing. Probably most prevalent is Lindy Hop, East coast, and West coast. Also common is ones like Jive, Boogie Woogie, Jitterbug, and many others. Lots of discussion among dancers but East coast is sometimes thought to be too structured and West coast is arguably the newest and most evolutionary style. Often West coast is seen at competitions like this as they have more freedom to invent.
