Being flashy and doing unneeded movements risks missed baskets and potential injury. I bet the owners of the teams sweat every all star weekend when players are hanging from their elbows or landing awkwardly because they put two balls through their legs. At the end of the day, the dunk contest has nothing to do with basketball and I really don’t get why people find it exciting. Giant athletic men that have no problem reaching the height of the rim, putting a ball in an empty net. BFD!

Dude I been saying for years now that the NBA should gather these guys up that do this and have them compete in the dunk contest because the NBA dunk contests have become very stale over the years and really havnt been great since prob the Vince Carter days or maybe little after. Around the late 2000s for sure. These guys would put a whole new fresh coat of paint on it and make it a must see thing again like it was in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s.

@@RDSports5 I think the same, let pro dunkers doing the contest for a huge promotion. Like the FIBA is doing it with the FIBA 3x3 challenge with the dunk league. Kilganon was there, Staples, J Clark,... and some European pro dunkers like Lipek, Smooth and Miller. That would be much more entertaining and people still watch it even without NBA players, imo

Nobody denies the fact that Jordan Kilgannon is the best dunker in the planet (who can outbest him come forth). But to say that the show is rigged and that he was robbed is going a bit too far.I mean, his total domination was clear and HE HAD the choice to play it safe and make a simplier dunk to win it all. Even the judges that you guys love to hate were SUGGESTING HIM to step his game down to go for an easy win. But Jordan decided that the contest wasn't his priority. Jordan's leaping talent and pride got him thinking what's best for him is much more worth than 100 000$. And that thing is worldwide recognition.

man he's great, no question about it, but you have to remember that Vince is a professional basketball player who is still playing to this day. The dunks Jordan has in creativity and pure leap is just another level. Saying that, if VC wasn't a professional basketball player and just focused on a dunk challenge, he would be even better.
