I'm Filipino. This is the first time of heard of it. I live outside the US. Filipinos have been using the term 'flipchart' particularly those in the health profession for years. We've been using the term in school for years. I've never heard of the insult. Frankly, I do not care. I consider this phenomenon mentioned by Peterson as a manner of racist philia like negrophilia. Overcompensating for potential offense on someone without thinking of what they would actually think.

Saying “no” is the same as saying “I quit”. So many are terrified of the unknown they would prefer the abuse of a childish tyrant boss to the temporary inconvenience of looking for a new job (while holding the current position).

@brokeneyes6615

Egg Roll321 that’s great for you and I honestly mean that. The sort of person I was referring to, and also that Peterson refers to in another one of his lectures are the meek individuals who won’t negotiate. I know so many people, some in my family who throw up so many excuses for why they will continue to work for someone who neither pays thrm well and has said in the past “anyone can be replaced” and ending it with a stare directly at them, heavily implying that it was them they were referring to. In my opinion that sort of behavior is from any sort of boss is the behavior of a childish tyrant and again, Peterson has warned what putting up with someone like that does to your well being. For the meek, saying no, in the sense they’re saying no to standing up for themself, negotiating with the boss or even looking for a new job while employed is no different than saying they’ve quit trying. Looking back at my previous comment, I see I was too vague for what I was trying to say to the point it was 180’d, Hope this clears it up.

It's gotten to the point, that if you don't say no to some of the things people want you to do, you become a slave to those people. It becomes about appeasing them at the expense of your own desires. I don't know much about Egyptian mythology, but it all sounds so interesting. As far as anti-heroes go, I always thought they were much cooler than the heroes. My favorite anti-heroes are Batman and Wolverine. They each have thier own moral codes, and that is good. Great video.

When he spoke about paying attention, I thought to myself, will paying attention help me figure someone out, and is that what people unconsciously want? For someone to understand them? Does this mean that people who I have met that I felt have understood me just pay more attention than most people do? If so, then by that logic, we would we be able to understand people much better just by paying attention to their body language and their reaction to things in certain situations? And if we can, would this explain the illusion that they understand me when or if we and the person in question ever interact?

As to harmlessness. We only seem to like dangerous pets. A dog is essentially a wolf, one of the top predators on our planet. A cat is as vicious a predator as they come. BATMAN rises Be careful with that description. Villains have their own moral code too. It's called doing whatever feels right without thinking about if it will harm others. What separates an anti-hero from a villain is they have the same goal as the good guys (for example, protecting people) but they're willing to do morally grey things that aren't technically bad to achieve their goals. Another variation of the anti-hero is they secretly have a good heart and do the right thing when it counts but other than that don't care if they do good or bad stuff. For example Han Solo in Star Wars episode 4 (the original).

@@danielsjohnson Often antiheroes are missing the capability to be heroic and must undergo a transformation. Frodo Baggins is a good example of an anti-hero; his heart is in the right place but he is unskilled, inexperienced, and weak in the beginning.

It’s funny, I’d consider characters like Batman, Riddick, Jon Wik, as antiheroes. Having recently reread paradise lost I still don’t understand how some people can call Satan an anti hero in that narrative.

Spiderman is a Hero, an example of an Anti-Hero would be Venom. Who isn't necessarily Inheritly evil, they just have their own agenda and challenge the hero.

Well say you're living in place A that believes in geocentrism and if you say that's stupid you might go to prison either for a couple years or the rest of your life, and you might be able to go to place B Where they believe in heliocentrism do you work towards going to B? or do you object and risk a life of imprisonment? my question is how do you weigh the risk/reward when you have the option of either running away or standing your ground but not both (unlike a job where you can object and they'll just fire you, so you search for a new job.)

If attentiveness is truly so powerful a force, that might explain why I get so far ahead of everyone else. I've often wondered what defines that damn gap that drives me crazy every time I'm forced to look at it. If that is all it is, then I feel much better already.

One pejorative against Filipinos I know is "Indio", as the Spaniards call idiots by it. I am awfully confused by "Flip" as a pejorative especially English is the Philippines' second language meaning Filipinos know the word "Flip" defines as how it is in the dictionary.
