The problem that most young people face is a society that is not fostering giving and thinking of others. True happiness resides in the realm of giving and compassion.

I think we have a "form" identity and a "true" identity. The form identity would refer to our history, body, intellect, opinions, goal, etc. Our true identity however would be the manifestation of our consciousness. It is what animates our body and "makes us" alive. It is simple yet so profound. Watching wild animals or being aware of our own awerness/consciousness can teach us to reconnect with that identity.

I feel that what Mr Peterson is talking about is a double-end sword. It's fascinating for people to think that we had the "good life " before the recent generations become "self absorb ". It's fair to say at times that the older generations and our ancestors are human and the growing pandemic that it is happening now is a combination of all generations that have lived on this planet earth 🌏. They are in survival mode living on the edge of a nervous breakdown. Young people are self-absorbed because they can afford to think of others in the way that they want to. Care for people that they want. Our back were against the walls for thousands if not millions of years. Now in these very moments, we have the chance to identify it and fix it. The self accountability for what everyone has done has to been on the table to be acknowledged and mended. Good discussion 👌

A room full of 2 year Olds, that pretty much describes large parts of society. Particularly the miserable parts of society. I think his idea of these people getting into a relationship and starting a family as the first steps to happyness is a disaster of an idea. Volunteer at a charity first or some other community based organisation. If you can enjoy building something or making others happy for nothing in return maybe then try a relationship.

I can see why you think that but I absolutely don’t agree for a very good reason. Myself and more than half my friends decided to wait- and only a few of us were able to find good partners and have kids on time. I has twins at 45! Luckily! All others are grief-stricken about being too old (men too!) to gave kids and yet, in our 20s and most of our 30s we didn’t even think we wanted any! Also, I’m sure I would have gone further in my career if I would have settled down sooner as it makes one more efficient. You don’t piss your days away with kids. Your time is valuable. Many of the most successful people have multiple kids. My only regrets are not having started sooner so I could have had more. When people with kids used to tell me that I used to think they were insane. I thought number two was only to give number one a sibling! 😂 Man, was II wrong! I’d easily have 4!

Honestly, kids will make you tired at first but there’s nothing like having someone to live and that loves you at a whole different level! Our culture has been portraying children as being a pain in the arse. I don’t get it. I wouldn’t wish being childless on anyone!

I want to know what is the motivation behind the dislikes to the video. Are there any actual arguments against JP that aren't ad hominem?

Is it really that simple? I think if I’m focused on myself but have the means to eat healthily, rest enough and some freedom I’m actually happier. It feels good to help others though. But I disagree that focusing on yourself causes misery.

This was really good ‼️ Seriously, every 20-30 something should watch this. However …..I was so distracted on the fact his jacket arms were way too short I had to watch it twice. I think he grabbed his wife’s jacket. 😂
@becauseihadavision Жыл бұрын
I hadn’t thought to notice in that way, or become fashion distracted… thanks (things you typically don’t give a sh*t about at 45 unless you have ADHD & enjoy sharp turns). The jacket isn’t his wife’s, it’s just Canadian…. Fashion aside - I was basically voicing some of my thoughts to my 2 kids 3 nephews (ages 8-17) (and my 2 sisters) along these lines over Thanksgiving weekend. Something like “if you and all if you’re friends are all “ooh I’m straight” or “ooh I’m gay” - you’re grounded. There are a tremendous amount of priorities and responsibilities that eclipse the priority to be either, and y’all gotta whooollllle lotta sh*t to do and are accountable for before you are at least legally an adult. You’re straight and your friend is gay? Y’all are both grounded and better do your damn homework, and if your friends persist then there is either poor parenting or a lack of actual parental involvement and interaction, and I know there’s a lot of sh*tty Ass lazy ass parents out there. Trust me, I see their fat asses sitting on the sidelines of everything everyday, on their f*cking phones, not even paying attention, taekwondo, the soccer field, basketball court, volleyball court, I see their big butts and bad backs stuck to their seats everyday. Anyhow, once you’re able to grow up and literally be grownups, be straight if you want to, be gay if you want to - you can be the gayest brightest rainbow flag flying gay if you want to. But until then, you’re neither.” I ended my speech then because the pizza was ready. Homemade. My sisters are the best!

Our nature is to serve the creator and in turn we serve others. God is where our true identity lies. I love this man. The more we move away from God the worse societies will be. We are seeing it happen right before our eyes.

I work with over a dozen 20-somethings and not one of them fits Peterson's description. Where are all these screwed up kids?

r u serious ? people who only care about themselves are literally the ones that make it and live very well. and the ones who care about others are the ones that suffer the most, that get betrayed all the time, that sacrifice themselves for others for no return, and that get sick. and why doesn't the interviewer respond ?? he literally just interviewed a doctor who said the exact opposite and explained why women suffered the most due to their benevolent nature.

Life does make more sense as you get older. But not if you are always comparing yourself to the worst people. If you need to compare yourself, compare yourself with people who you want to be like, or with your future potential. Either way, kids use the word literally way too much. It doesn't help your sentences at all
