perhaps the most important point peterson has made clear. thoughts (limitations) are maps of the territory of truth (unlimited) they are not the territory itself. maps don’t update on their own to a constantly changing environment however. hence the ability of our consciousness to feel emotion, sensation (smell,taste,sight,sound,touch) & observe thought (awareness) these of which we can learn to harmonize in order to overcome the limitation of our perceptions of what is (truth)

You know, sometimes I'm in sync with this guy and sometimes I'm not . . . and sometimes I have no idea what he's talking about, and I'm not sure if it's my fault or his . . . but he is ALWAYS fascinating to listen to. He is, in that way, like a truly funny stand up comedian. Such a comedian doesn't rely on one-liners, he is just inherently funny no matter what he's saying. While Peterson is seldom funny, he is always interesting, inherently. He has a gift.

In the context of Freudian psychoanalysis , the epigenetic conscious working model of id and ego can be described by two dominating feature of id and ego. Id is the affect part of a persons identity . id or the affects are dominated by value based emotions .the id is filled with obsessions and natural tendency of psyche to empirically function in accordance to similarity seeking thus is basically empirical or aligned with empiricism. Ego is the rational part of a persons identity . ego or rationales are dominated by logic based opinions. The ego is filled with doubtings and natural tendency of psyche to rationally function in accordance to difference seeking thus is basically rational or aligned with rationalism. A superego or virtuous personality which grounds its mentality based value-based function of id , prefer to moralize and direct its thoughts and behaviors in accordance to internal ethics. A superego or virtuous personality which grounds its mentality based logic-based function of ego , prefer to reason and direct its thoughts and behaviors in accordance to internal reason. Speaking of psychotherapy , since structuralism is a conscious working model reaching from value to rationality , that is to say reaching from id to ego , thus a person who can emphasize on how its values and thus emotions form its thoughts and reasons is using structuralism as a psycho-therapy. Speaking of psychoanalysis , since constructivism is a conscious working model reaching from rationality to value , that is to say reaching from ego to id , thus a person who can emphasize on how its thoughts and thus reasons form its values and emotions is using constructivism as a psycho-therapy. In practice , the structural psychotherapy is a diagnosis approach. In practice , the constructivist psychotherapy is a curing approach.

It's wrong to say that the brain is all over your body, there are obvious anatomical classifications that clearly determine what is considered a brain. Also, the autonomic nervous system doesn't have more neurons than the CNS, nowhere near as much and even those that is does have are very dependent on the neurons in the rest of the CNS.
@thefunkybassistnl
@thefunkybassistnl 6 жыл бұрын
True, my estimation is that Jordan Peterson alludes to a more conceptual definition of mind according to Dr. Dan Siegel for example, instead of the strictly biological definition of brain. Meaning that (for example) thoughts and emotions are not purely conceived of in the brain itself but is intricately linked with the nervous system, visual and auditory interactions with other people, etc.

@@thefunkybassistnl But the brain sends the message to cns. So cns relies on the brain to act out and decide what is bound to be. We are nothing without our brain and heart remember that. Detect right fruit. But it would be nice to be able to not be overwhelmed by receiving too much information. - mind is not separated from the body. Thought is not abstract from the body. Enlightment: reason shouldn't be contaminated with subjectivity, emotion and motivation. Emotion and reason as enemies. Froid somewhat agreement: the drive is the 'Id', and it has to be repressed or approved by the ego in the service of the superego. Maybe because their patients didn't intengrate their drive with their reason (?) But if thought is not separeted of body, then we do not pursue an objetive understanding of the universe, as a scientist would do, but precisely a subjetive understanding, in a way that helps us to direction our behavior, while we look for reprodution and survival. Learn to be aggressive *in a sophisticated way.* Complex monsters emerge out of survival and reproduction, although it is a simplification.

Even science is subjective to knowledge, which in itself is a seemingly infinite thing which we have an infinitely increasing amount of, but always finite in total capacity. Science is as objective as our current reality of knowledge allows it to be. Known knowns, unknown knowns, known unknowns and unknown unknowns as they say.

In Frankel’s logotherapy , the encountering of id and ego ,or how affects and values relate to and result in opinions and rationales , lead to what is called meaning. This meaning can be recognized as structural meaning. This meaning phenomena is a push like mechanism for our behavior. In Frankel’s logotherapy , the encountering of ego and id , or how opinions and rationales relate to and result in affects and values , lead to what is called meaning. This meaning can be recognized as constructivist meaning. This meaning phenomena is a pull like mechanism for our behavior. Frankel emphasizes that emergence of that meaning depends of this issue that such encountering to take place in the form of a dialectic between an I and a You . Further Frankel elaborates that such dialectic thus forms the dialectic between therapist and the patient. I argue , the internal working of the vision created from how structuralism and constructivism form back and force the conscience ; results in the emergence of superego.

learn to meditate. Take 15 minutes a day and sit in a quiet place and try to think only of your breathing. Make a list of things in your life that you want to change or make you unhappy and come up with a plan to fix them. Write down your short and long term goals and work a little bit every day to achieve them. Start out VERY slow and work your way up to bigger things,but make sure you do at least one thing a day to move yourself closer to your goals. Don't listen to the voice in your head that says you can't do it,the meditation will help to tame that voice but not listening to it is probably the most Important thing you can ever do. Lastly,be grateful for the life and things you already have. Find peace brother.

Peterson approaches lecturing with a core idea or topic he intends to explore, a couple supporting points in mind, and then essentially riffs on it until he reaches a sensible conclusion. It keeps things interesting because it feels organic and he never gives the same lecture twice. I'll grant you it can be a little discursive at times. But assuming you were listening and he said something you didn't know before you listened, well then he's succeeded in teaching you something.

Do you know how to listen or do you just like to whine when you aren't handed the knowledge of the world on a platter?
