The road sign you're talking about is a national speed limit sign, on motorways it's 70 mph

Ohh! Thank you, I'm not sure if they ever figured that out, but now they will know :)
@robbiedenholm7 жыл бұрын
404pageunfound it actually means 60
@404pageunfound7 жыл бұрын
"THE ACTS OF BOB" .... Actually I think you'll find it's 70 on motorways and dual-carriageways and 60 on single-carriageways, they were on a motorway when they saw that sign (source: I live in the UK and hold a drivers license).
@robbiedenholm7 жыл бұрын
404pageunfound as do I but if the sign is national speed limit it's a 60 not 70 as it would just be sign posted 70

The road sign you were talking about means 'national speed limit applies' so on a dual track (one lane each way) you can go 60mph, and on dual carriage/motorway (2+ lanes each way) you can go 70mph. For vans and lorries, the speed is slightly different - 50 on dual track, 60 on dual carriage, 70 on the motorway.
@DenizaJane7 жыл бұрын
Though a lot of people will know exactly where speed traps are/are likely to be so will speed up until these points and then slow... it can actually be rare to see people doing 70 on a motorway!
@zavierfrost7 жыл бұрын
The white circular road sign with the diagonal black bar through it means national speed limit, which is 60mph. On a dual carriageway you add 10mph to it.

that sign means national speed limit which is 60 on the roads you usually see it on but ot always. Average speed cameras are cameras that will take a picture of your car ever few hundred yards and if your average speed is above the speed limit you'll get a ticket.

ahh Americans and their lack of knowledge of speed limits. the sign means you go at the National Speed Limit for that kind of road. Single Carriageway is 60 mph and dual carriageway or motorway is 70 mph. but no one really sticks to those limits, most people generally travel way above 80 mph, except lorries and old people - who like to sit in the middle lane crawling along at 50 mph
