Oh no...my company is starting to add the diversity stuff. My lead just announced there some sort of racism training course. Ive been working at this studio for a year now. I felt no racism. Now we're having training for awareness of racism? Been there for a year and I did not experience any racism.........I wonder whats going to happen with this new racism training..

It scares the crap outta me that it's creeping into the Canadian scientific funding agencies. I'm in a lab that does research on several debilitating neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Huntington's etc. These diseases don't care about EDI and it's ridiculous for major labs contributing to this research to be judged on such nonsense! It's dangerous, and has no place in the scientific community and especially in granting agencies that have to make decisions about how to distribute limited funds for health research.

Thanks to both of you. Science is beyond diversity henceforth it should not take "die" into consideration for its method.

KSA or DIE. If you’re a government worker or a veteran that has applied for a government job your qualifications are based upon KSA = Knowledge, Skills, Ability. DIE = Diversity, Inclusion, Equity (Equity is not the same as Equality) does nothing to prove an individual’s Knowledge, Skills and Ability to do the job. If a company feels compelled to add a DIE hiring manager or change their company logo to rainbow colors to pander to the LGBTQ group or DIE group, it’s perceived as patronizing and thus that company may have had prior discriminatory hiring practices. Bottom line…any public or private company that discriminates against a person’s race, religion, sexual orientation, political affiliation, economic status, veteran status or disability is in violation of State and Federal employment laws. KSA or DIE. Teach your children well.

Come on guys. It is true that black people particularly have been done wrong because of generational ignorance. This ignorance causes people to respond with only self in mind, primarily it continues to put forward those within their peer groups. We are simply asking for consideration where we have not being considered before. What is the issue with created equity for minority groups?

Ok. Granted...but consider the indigenous presupposition that we belong to the land. Not it to us.Science might conclude : 'Tame the land ' ,then summon the hubris to hold this conclusion above all others. Perhaps the next inevitable drought could plausibly place a slight dent in such theories. Forests precede civilization precede deserts.

Natural Philosophy. Philo(love) of sophia(wisdom) wise love of the land. The scientific method, argues The Archdruid at Ecosophia, is a great divination method. Perhaps the best one for figuring out what the land requires of us? After all, blind belief poses terrible danger to the land, even when that faith seems to be directed toward the land. Perhaps, then, it is not only *possible* to separate DIE faith from reverence for the land, but even necessary to do so.

@@Sopranohooper There is a methodology of permaculture not gaining much widespread adoption in method; possibly due to such a large number of mouths to feed. Is your crop prone to attack by pests ? Yes says the farmer, "I needed to plant 5000 hectares to obtain an economy of scale" " Here" says the scientist -cum,- business exec. " Buy this G.M. seed and follow our fertilization and pest control regime .bingo , no pest problem.+ increased yield We will; as an added bonus, help you market the crop." Every human wins .(in varying degrees) . Where there are winners, exist also losers. That ; is the only blind faith here.

I’m really not sure what you can do other than object. Although to object is to say that you don’t play their conceptual game. Idk your companies value system or structure so I don’t want to to express an opinion that might harm you financially or professionally. But assuming that the same concern for the well-being of others (in group terms) is the same concern they have for the individual perhaps you express your concern not as discontent but rather as discomfort? Do you feel you could express that this training makes you uncomfortable or do you feel there would be fall out from telling them that?

There are some serious weaknesses here. I will be the first to conclude that general policies such as equality vs equity tradeoff are affected by political bias in certain arenas. That being said jordan Peterson is no beacon of hope in this regard either since he is also prone to bias in regards to not adhering to the scientific method. Some of his approaches to tackling climate change are not backed by the scientific community. Another example of this is that jordan Peterson frequently talks about serotonin and the effect on the nervous system in relation to other species such as lobsters. While it might be appropriate to analogize human hierarchies with respect to animals Peterson does not handle this well particularly since he gets the relationship between serotonin in lobsters and serotonin in humans wrong and is also not a neuroscientist or an evolutionary psychologist or an evolutionary biologist. The second point I would like to make is peterson is full of political bias in that he has talked about merits of race and iq discussion when almost all of it is debunked. I'm not sure if he himself believes there to be a difference but he not only miscited literature but also talked to prominent "white supremecists" on this issue who have legimately zero credentials or research expertise on these topics. Perhaps he is looking at multiple sides of the aisle to get an idea of where to align himself through discussion so I might give him some benefit of the doubt but that completely wrecks his credentials on talking about these subject matters. He is guilty of ideology just as much as he critiques it. Finally on equality vs equity tradeoff I will be the first to admit that many social justice types frequently politicize the issue to the point of measuring things like effectiveness or productivity. That being said this is totally up for discussion as a topic and jp and gad saad appear to to be straw-manning the issue but nevertheless even other organizations also do the same so that's just a challenge. I will say interesting and better discussions of that topic in relation to economics come from emanuel saez who looked into complexities of economic inequality vs economic efficiency tradeoff in his research papers while critiquing former neoclassical models cited by Gregory mankiw. Very interesting discussions and it's useful to look at the original neoclassical models on output and efficiency even if I disagree with some of the premises or the models utilized.
