In this video, I'm sharing with you why Jordans aren't worth it! $210 is way too expensive for Nike's latest shoes!
Jordans are one of the most popular sneakers out there, but is their price justified? In this video, I'm sharing with you my thoughts on Jordans and whether or not they're worth the price! I think you'll agree with me when I say that $210 is way too expensive for a pair of shoes!

I can say I already stopped impulse buying in 2021. In 2022 I only copped OG color ways that I really loved. I agree at $210 thats probably my stopping point. Especially considering with NY state tax it brings it up to $230-240. Honestly the WC 3s are the only thing thats a must cop for me so far.

Problem is when they make more shoes the resale value tanks and when the shoe bricks resellers don’t buy them and they don’t sell out and probably go on sale. When they make too many they wind up sitting on them and they don’t want to sit on them. Shoes only sell out bc of the resellers hoarding up tons of pairs and when the value is low they pass then that increased supply sits. Ur probably thinking great I can cop. But now they sitting on 100k pairs on their books which they don’t want.

@@sneakerhead4770the shoes cost 10-20 bucks to make, even if Nike sold them for 70 bucks they still make insane profit.
@sneakerhead4770
@sneakerhead4770 Жыл бұрын
@@louivillehammer4346 nah bro it doesn’t work like that exactly. So cost of production might be a few dollars. Up to around 5 let’s say. Then shipping on a vessel per unit is negligible. Even when shipping containers were at their peak price they can fit so many pairs on 1 40’ container. Let’s say 1$ max. Then they have to pay import duties which is the most expensive aspect. Maybe 20 bucks. On boots the tax is very very high on athletic shoes it’s less but still expensive. So now u are around 25-30 and the shoes are still at port right? Now u hire a trucking company to pick them up bring them to ur warehouse. Then u distribute to other warehouses and send to retailers also which get a discount. Now u have huge overheads. How many employees does Nike have? How many buildings and warehouses? Marketing? Athlete endorsements? Design teams etc etc. They wind up making 5-10% on a shoe after all the dust settles. They feed a lot of mouths and families. Where they make a killing is off socks tshirts sweatpants the margins are way better. The margins on shoes are worse. Those other garments cost them a fraction of what the shoes cost. Also they sell the shoes to retailers for a wholesale price so when u average it all together they and minus cost of goods and minuses expenses they don’t make what people think they do. They operate globally they have all types of expenses

I believe Nike or Jordan Brand may have increased there prices simply to cut out the middle man which would be the reseller . If the reseller get the shoe and tries to flip it it would be impossible because the resellers price is already extremely high to make a sale . I believe $210 is high but understanding the reason behind it i can see why . The reseller wont make a profit nor will they purchase for the original price forcing the consumer to want to purchase at retail .

If you gonna pay that for one shoe you can pay that for the others in their eyes. Don’t let one group slide stand 10 toes down on all of them being overpriced so they know as a consumer you’re not ok with that.

I completely feel u, it's not just $10 the prices been going up, we need a cutting point. When is enough enough like u said. Remember when they put the prices up because it was supposed to be the new "remastered" line with better quality material. What happened with that, that was basically a lie the quality was not great (or even beter) but the price stayed the same and they even went up more. It's also very annoying because a lot of times lately the craftsmanship is appalling on these Jordans, glue stains & many imperfections, but yet the prices keep going up.

Not worth fr imo but if you got the bread and wanna throw that bread then ball out

Thanks for the content on this topic. Nike and Jordan brand have been taking advantage of the inflation narrative to price gouge their loyal customers. I’ve been a life long loyal consumer of J’s since the 80s, however Nike and Jordan brand should understand we’re getting tired of missing impossible drops on kicks we really want , then being forced into purchasing kicks like the visionairs, or the brotherhood 1s. Other brands like New balance for example will fill the void to people tired of the BS.

Your first 3 words (after inflation) is exactly my point. They’re taking advantage. I don’t ever remember saying, or implying that Nike shouldn’t maximize profits for their shareholders. My point is the rate of increase on some of their products don’t mach the rate of inflation to justify the obvious gouging evident in the price increases to the loyal fan base keeping them solidly profitable. This strategy could backfire turning many lifelong consumers bitterly looking for a substitute. That’s economics 101!
@ko9600
@ko9600 Жыл бұрын
No disrespect, I think you’re missing my point. Of course any simpleton with the most basic rudimentary fundamental understanding of basic business understands, business is a for profit venture. Like Tony very plainly explained in the video, most people don’t mind paying fair prices for things they like. My point is, those same people usually don’t want to feel taken advantage of. While Nike is all about maximizing potential profits, I can assure you they don’t want to loose a loyal customer base to a rival business.

Imagine how I feel in Canada bro. $210 USD for you is like $275 CAD for us here. $180 USD is like $235 CAD for us here in Canada. Welcome to inflation and rising cost prices, we are getting price increases in February next month in retail too. It’s getting me to be more selective of what I buy now.

Last year they said they were going to mark up Jordans from $190.00 - $200.00, with O.G. colorways starting at $210.00, people are going to still buy them, $210.00 isn't that bad for O.G.'s, funny that people complain about the mark up but I've never heard anyone complain about prices on 11s, they've been $220.00 or more for years, that's why I stop buying them, as far as my price point, I really don't have one, I'm the guy who bought White Cement 4s for $220.00 back in 2016 when people said that was too much

Much rather pay $210 than $300+ resale on highly sought after pairs. I only cop OG colorways so I have zero problems with the price hikes. Sick of resellers.

at the end of the day resallers controll the after market,(resale wise and lineup-wise to grab the current shoe and (lift that market up), regaurdeless at this point he only way to break their market is to sell high then drop it value cause its not selling (theys still get their worth the drop back out of volume of sale(with their hype shoes a lone) which is a stretch to how much they made overtime). But it dropping higher in value is to produce in a profiable comapany at, so the real question is how can we make it more profitable vs the resllers because we knwo nike is reselling they shoes for sure at a lower level?

They’re not worth $210 but ppl pay $350 Nike and JB want their cut apparently. And yes the price has gone on everything. Just seems easy to blame the resell game. I’d want a piece too… if it were my product.

You must be talking about team Jordan's or the 1s because I have been buying jordan since the late 80s & I never seen a pair that was 135 in the 2000s.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 they keep raising the price and lowering the quality. Glue stains, mold, auto-crease pleather. Maaan! The NBs and Yeezys were way less money and way more butter last year. Jordan falling off a lil and I hope they hear you!!!

I’ve been saying the same thing jordan/Nike are getting out of hand with these insane prices $200-210 for some regular GR’s is crazy. And the leather material isn’t all that great. But Nike/Jordan brand knows how to play the game & that’s by taking out the resellers!!

$210.00 is fine if you purchase one pair of shoes a year, but not fine if you purchase tons of shoes every year.

This is def how they are combating reselling bc pairs aren’t worth as much now on the market…. Hype drops yes but the drops that happen every Saturday nope…. You used to be able to resell every drop now you can’t

Jordan’s have just gone up again too in the U.K. we now pay £190 for a normal retro and £165 for a 1 depending on the 1 converted to the dollars that’s $228 for a normal retro and $198 for a 1, I been saying for years jordan are too expensive and now it’s ridiculous I’m definitely going to be more picky this year

If folks consider themselves “sneaker heads” they gotta start branching out to different brands. NB, Saucony, Asics all have great stories and materials for the same price and/or less.

Exactly. Jordan's are classic! But how many colors of the same model does someone need? Prices were going to increase eventually. A bunch of people follow...and real sneaker heads are rare.

Only reason they’re high is cause ppl pay resell anyway. Ofc as a brand they’re gonna say if they can make money reselling our products, we might as well raise the price and get our cut too

10 years for a $40 increase is somewhat more understandable but we're talking a $20 increase within ONE YEAR. No joke at the beginning of 2022, I picked up a pair of Jordan 4 Red Thunders for $190 retail, now the the Military Blacks and Navy Cements are $210. Sure the Red Thunders didn't have the best material but it looks like all Jordan 4s due to the popularity are at $210. The black canvas which was a dope colorway but materials were meh were also $210. This was all within a year which is ridiculous... Jordan 1s also jumped $10, things started getting sketch when Nike removed the MSRP portion with a price on the sticker label. Without a price on the sticker, I feel like Nike can do whatever they want. Also I noticed that because nobody knows what they're doing anymore and prices are so random, sometimes footlocker will charge a little less than Nike because the prices were set different earlier in the year. So now I know Nike is just making shit up as they go. Fire red 3s were $210 but then Dark Iris and Desert Elpahnt were $200, so it makes no sense they're charging $210 for non-OG Jordan 4s when Jordan 3s are still $200 if it's a non-OG colorway. Anywyas, rant over.

ngl, I don’t mine $210. I copped my OG true blues for $225 back in 2016 and I was let down with the retro and quality. I paid $210 for the OG fire reds in 2022 from snkrs and the quality, leather, box and presentation was amazing. Worth every dollar. But then again maybe I got lucky with my pair. My point is $210-200 is chill.

Mann I used military discount on the cardinal 7s and it was still $204 I believe and THAT price pissed me off for some 7s so I know I’m not paying $220 for anything that isn’t an OG 11
