Literally all of those products leave build up in your hair. If you're still smelling frankincense in your hair several days after washing it that's because it's sitting in your hair. I wash my hair every 10 days. I stopped using oils well over a year ago. I spritz my hair daily with water and tea tree essential oil. I reach with my hair after every wash which is every 10 days but I do what's called a soft retwist meaning it's super loose but neat enough. I don't do updos and tite dos. By the 10th day the natural oils from my scalp or present. Your scalp produces its own oil. Before I go out I get my hair a light spritz of water with a few drops of frankincense. I use Thalia Wajid loctite for my retwist. I use a shampoo bar on my hair but mainly my scalp. Stop piling those oils in your hair especially if you're not washing it often..

I'm 10 months into my hightop locs journey. I usually wash my hair whenever I get a retwist which is like every 2 months. I know it's bad but like whenever I wash my hair my roots and hair is just mad puffy and all over the place. Should I wash my hair anyway regardless of that? or Should I just wash my hair whenever I get a retwist?

I personally only wash my hair during my retwsit but if you can get use to the puffiness then I would say go for it!
