@vjj17643 жыл бұрын
They pushed her. She is very young and there are uncertainties regarding that. You don’t gain experience just by being a little mature for your age. Jordyn has mentioned that she feels like she is about 3 years older than her age maturity wise but that is not significant in the grant scheme of things. However, she is able to seek out mentorship and she has different people she speaks to regularly about the position. I’m going to get on my soapbox right now, which I shouldn’t but I will anyway. Jordyn was born at the tail end of the millennial generation (1995) and it is not uncommon for boomers and even gen Xers to look down on millennials thinking they are too young to do any kind of leadership position (because they are spoiled, undisciplined and can’t work hard which is such bullshit it would take a book to refute it) but anyway. You can hear some of that attitude in the press conference but whether any of them like it or not, millennials are the future leaders of the world. And as a millennial myself, I would say that we have done incredible work in an idealistic as well as a practical way.

First, that was the lamest hog calling I've ever seen. Second, I am so glad to see her in this position. You can only be a volunteer coach for so long, and seriously during the past six years, especially after Jordan graduated, she should have been hired as an official assistant coach. God knows that school has money enough. I'm not saying Miss Val had anything to do with it and I'm sure if it was within her power she would have changed the situation. But how long can someone feasibly be a "volunteer" coach? I am also happy to see more and more WOMEN being hired for head coaching positions across the board, rather than men coaching women's sports. I am putting Arkansas on my list of college gymnastics teams to follow!

This is a smart, signature hire. Women's gymnastics is an awesome sport that needs a new wave of leadership. What better place to start than strong women like Coach Jordyn Wieber? Miss Val at UCLA showed the way with her humanity. Jordyn brings that magic to Arkansas, plus star power for recruiting. Two years ago Olympic and NCAA gymnast Courtney Kupets Carter was named coach of the Georgia GymDogs women's team. She has done well, even without the prior coaching success that Jordyn brings. Georgia is ranked number 8. Arkansas is 20 (up from 24 when the two teams played in February). This is going to be a long, challenging march for a good team that can get better. I have every confidence that Jordyn knows that. AD Yurachek made the right pick for the future. I hope that he helps his new coach weather the storms of press critics who expect instant success.

I am so happy for Jordyn Wieber,becoming the University of Arkansas head Women's Gymnastics coach. It is certain that the Arkansas Athletic Director really was impressed with Jordyn's performance as the volunteer Floor Coach at UCLA. I am so proud of you, even though there was criticism from myself,about the acceptance of endorsement dollars, at a young age. You were not able to compete and train with the UCLA Women's Gymnastics team,but excelled in other facets of the sport at UCLA. I know my criticism was strong, but I only did it for constructive reasons. You are very important Jordyn. You are our future,and with your intelligence,and burning desire to succeed, you can make our society a better place to live. May GOD give you the strength to be a role model for many young people throughout your life. Jordyn Wieber,I hope this opportunity will give you much happiness, and joy. My wish is that you will achieve your American Dream, and have much success in life.Go Jordyn Wieber. Go Arkansas Razorbacks. Michael David Silverman from New Jersey United States of America.
@kimbridge5 жыл бұрын
What did you have against Jordan going pro?
@wimvandesteeg13535 жыл бұрын
Critisism is NEVER "constructive" if you don't know a person personally, or know any reason why someone would go the path she or he chooses, critisism only closes a possible conversation, and even a chance to learn about a person, people who just shout out their critisism, are just silly, anyway, it seems that you have learnd something, its an old saying, "think before you act"...and please, for a "strong" comment, just start to spell her name right...
@2021kyoto5 жыл бұрын
@@wimvandesteeg1353 Did Jordyn Wieber think before she signed an endorsement contract, and became ineligible to train and compete with the Women's Gymnastics team at UCLA?
@kimbridge5 жыл бұрын
Michael Silverman Does it really matter that she gave up her NCAA eligibility? Jordyn may expressed some regret once or twice, but if she made more money as a pro than the cost of her college degree, then she made the right choice. Arguably, Wieber would not have gotten this new job opportunity at this stage in her life, had she not been an assistant coach at UCLA, and she wouldn’t have been coaching if she had been competing.
@2021kyoto5 жыл бұрын
@@kimbridgeThe reason I type comments about Jordyn Wieber taking endorsement money,is that, she had a burning desire to compete on the UCLA GYMNASTICS TEAM. Jordyn Wieber told Valorie Kondos Field that she would do anything for the UCLA TEAM, because she knew that going pro left her ineligible to compete and train. Did you know for two years Jordyn Wieber had to move mats,and wash LEOTARDS, before becoming the volunteer floor coach?I am very happy for Jordyn Weiber, and feel that she will be a fine coach. With that said, she still will have to sell the University of Arkansas,and the Fayettville, Arkansas, area to potential student athletes. It will be a challaging task, because the University of Arkansas is competing against powerhouse Universities in the Southeastern conference. I wish Jordyn Wieber well, and hope she achieves her American dream of a national championship in gymnastics. Michael David Silverman from New Jersey United States of America.
