Te vuelvo a ver y escuchar y reitero lo que dije hace tres años: Maestro Osorio eres sencillamente sensacional.

Tremendously skilled playing. And I imagine the orchestra's part is difficult as well. Bravo.
Whoever was riding the fader on this recording should be fired. We needed the full dynamic range!

I believe some of these UNAM videos are for transmission over open air TV, so the audio has to be compressed unfortunately. There is probably a high quality recording somewhere out there, but good luck navigating the maze of bureaucracy required to obtain it.

They tried to make me listen to mono. But I said "No, no, no."

When was this recorded?

I listened to piano concertos by Chopin, Liszt, Ravel, Prokofiev and this. It felt like a natural progression. He was ahead of his time (along with Boulez) as this was the sound of the 70s academic music but written in 52. I find his 12 tone writing to be very "harmonic" and his use of melodic intervals consistent and compelling.

It was composed in 1961. No. 2 was composed in 1972.

I must say I prefer this to Boulez but perhaps I should give his music another try, hopefully I will be able to appreciate him better this time.

@@slowloris4346 Boulez is boring and too contrived.
26:27 I'm not a pianist so I have no idea how difficult this is, but holy shit

It's incredibly difficult, as a pianist

I wish Ginastera had written a piano concerto during his nationalistic periods. This "neo-expressionism" as he called it, is relentlessly bangy, dissonant, and bereft of any interesting melodic or harmonic material - in short, noisy and boring. (And I love most of what the composer wrote.) All I can say is kudos to the musicians, especially maestro Osorio, for pulling it off - that's a lot of black dots.

He did write a piano concerto in his nationalist period. It's called the Concierto Argentino and it just recently had its first recordings. It's not as good as his other two piano concertos but still a worthwhile listen.

I get what you mean. The Toccata segment though is absolutely magnificent and some of the best music Ginastera ever composed.

i do find the first three movements of this concerto a little boring, but I find his 2nd piano concerto to be truly amazing, he perfectly uses the "bangy and dissonant" ideas and crafts a masterpiece
@musicfriendly122 жыл бұрын
Disagree totally, the rhythm is the main interest, and if you don't hear interesting harmonies or counterpoint then I'm afraid the fault's on your side. You could say you don't like this sort of primal music, but it's very very well written and interesting

@@musicfriendly12 I feel like this music is more of Ginastera revealing his inner-world and personal/emotional. This is the music of violence, terror, pain, suffering, savagery, you name it. He was clearly trying to make a statement with this masterpiece.
