Great interviewing, Rio. And great responses from Jorginho. Regarding Saka, his best quality is INTELLIGENCE-his decision making, first principles thinking and judgment are what set him apart-this is hard to put in words, and hard for casuals to see. Two things are holding to win the Balon Dor, he is dark complexion black and there is a clear racial bias with the 98% white journalists who vote for the award and he is English and foreign journalists don’t like to vote for English players because they feel it promotes the Premier League and feel it has too much exposure and prefer to vote for players of other leagues or foreign players in the EPL. The fact Saka was never in the top 10 of the golden boy award when he was eligible even when he had the best goals and assists states of the nominees each year shows a clear racial and nationality bias that will hold him back. A 5 year study by the PFA proved media praises dark complexion Black players get 65% less than white and Biracial/ lighter skinned players. It is an uncomfortable truth which is why even in England the media put Bellingham, Foden and now Palmer ahead of Saka due to this inherent bias, even thought Saka blows them all out of the water statistically over the last 5 years for club and country.

It is to do with inherent bias. It proven in studies that dark complexion Black players are viewed more negatively and praised less compared to white and light complexion players. So people have no problem saying Bellingham is a Balon Dor contender because they relate to him more, but Saka who has far better goal and assists stats than Bellingham for club and country and plays in the more difficult Premier League is questioned more due to the inherent bias.
@mangoesboyКүн бұрын
@Delboy0 Most likely, as people are biased even before giving a rationale thought. Especially, wrt Saka, he is such a lovely boy, charming, intelligent, talented and , hardworking. I have to disagree. I do agree that premier league based players dont always get the credit from european journalists who seem to give ballon dors to players in spain or Italy ahead of english and german based players, but i disagree that there is also a racial bias against black players too. Bellingham and foden got more hype in the past year because both have won champions leagues and league titles. Saka has not been anywhere near. Then, palmer had a better individual season than saka last year with more goals and assists. Elite football is at the very highest level and is a meritocracy. Saka is in the conversation and there can only be one winner. Rooney for example never got anywhere near the ballon dor even when he was winning title after title and having some of the best individual seasons ive ever seen. Other than Yaya Toure and Eto and vinicius last year (and came second), there just havent been any other stand out players to justify winning it ahead of anyone else. Hundreds of world class players have missed out.

Maybe it's not prevalent but it's still there....
@fds3415Күн бұрын
@@Robert-i4g some fans are of course racist, but the argument that black players are not winning balon dors because of racism I think is wrong. I would also like to look st that pfa study that supposedly covered 5 years. It would be interesting to see how extensive it was because there are so many variables to consider and controls yo make to ever be able to make a clear conclusion, and you will never be able to analyse every pundits comments as there are so many. Just because the claim that black players are praised less than white players, even if true, does not necessarily conclude the hypothesis of racism. The very best players will get praised the most and if in any given time period there is a black minority in say the top 20 players in a league season of course the outocme will be that black players are praised less. So anyway if its available id like to read it and perhaps have my mind changed.
