Lyrics
One day I said I would be rich and I said I’d have a family
Would I really be content with my husband and his family?
What’s worse than looking at my neighbours pretending that they’re happy
Is one day looking at myself and saying that I’m sorry
Hear me out
Hear me out now I’ll be right home
Called you twice already now please pick up the phone
Hear me out
Hear me out now I’ll be right home
I don’t know
I don’t know why but I made it home
What if I looked into their eyes and I tell them that it’s over
Something I can’t say to myself but I’ll say it in the mirror
I’ve heard so many of these stories I never thought they’d be me
Why can’t we leave it should have left it as just another chapter
It stays the same
Will always remain
With my heart in doubt
How do we face the colours that fade and find my way out
Hear me out
Hear me out now I’ll be right home
Called you twice already now please pick up the phone
Hear me out
Hear me out now I’ll be right home
I don’t know
I don’t know why but I call it home
Once was I looking at myself and saying that I’m sorry

The MV concept is bittersweet. This is what she once wanted for her future, but the reality of her future doesn't bring contentment to her desires. She isn't happy at all, she knows it, but is in denial because she can't believe this is what her life has turned out to be. If home is where the heart is, how could this be a home ? Her heart is no longer there and no longer yearns for this. But somehow in her denial, she can't bring herself to change this reality, so she says sorry to console herself and calls it home. No one can see her unhappiness, not the husband, not the nanny nor the kid. They're all absorbed in their own reality. No one notices her pain. She is alone. Her husband doesn't make it a home, its just a house with people. This is actually sad, she is living her dream, has a house, husband and family. But the one thing she wants the most, a home, she doesn't have.

What a compelling and all to familiar story for so many. Being in a relationship that is unfulfilling while putting forth a facade of bliss is such an injustice to one's soul. Find a way out so that you can find yourself. Forgive yourself and remember, happiness is an inside job!! GREAT WORK JORJA!!!

I just got out of a marriage like this. I was with a “great” guy (not a good guy, but a good guy to society) for 3 and a half years and I know we would’ve had a lavish life but my heart was not in it. The real me got pushed aside for years and I finally realized I couldn’t do a lifetime of faking a smile and going on fancy vacations with people who didn’t even notice me. My husband didn’t even notice me. I got to a point where I told myself that abuse and misery was what my life was gonna be. My boundaries and needs got ignored and I lost myself. Thank God I had a good support system who helped me get out. It was the hardest thing I’ve had to do but my soul is finally free. Dear anyone who will listen: DONT LOSE YOURSELF! You have this one life. Live it the way you want and if a relationship costs you your peace and personality……..RUN!!!

I wouldn't say she is underrated, cause tbh a lot of people know who she is. I think it's purely because she doesn't try to put on an act, tart herself up, try to be someone she isn't. Which for some reason the industry and most of its audience seem to love. Its a shame but I guess that's what makes them money & we all know that's what it's all about. Fair play to her though for not switching up and staying true to herself!

It’s interesting how the wife (or the camera as her POV) focusses a lot on Jorja. Suggesting envy that Jorja can come and go, or how easily she melts in the family and how present she is with them. Not in a malicious sense , just “I wish it was that easy for me still”. I think we can all agree we felt hopeful for the wife when we saw the bags were packed, only to realise it wasn’t her bags. How relieving would it be to hear “it’s ok if you want to leave, you can, I’m by your side”. And I think this song is definitely for those who are between thoughts and that’s the message we should pass on to them “you will be fine!”

Such another greatly captured and very cinematic video from Jorja. That plays like a real life mini-movie. Through greatly written storytelling and a very sad, yet beautifully brilliant concept. So many of us find all too familiar through either our own or others experiences. That finds Smith singing from the perspective of a rich woman, who has everything she thinks she ever wanted at home. In a rich husband, a beautiful daughter, a nanny and a happy fairytale story that every woman always dreams of as a young girl growing up. Only for that not to be what they really want when they actually get it. For the fact that their husband and/or spouse is either cheating on them or has eyes for someone else. Whether it be the nanny (who Smith plays) or someone else. The wife even with as sad as she's. Continues to act like she's content with what she has being a home. By putting on this fake facade of being happy for herself, the husband and society as a whole. But the sad reality of it all is that though it maybe a home to others. It really isn't a home to her. It's just somewhere she lives and feels pretty uncomfortable living in. Even despite all of that she has. As the saying goes, "everything that glitters isn't always gold." The great storytelling in both the music video and actual song from Smith. Truly helping to bring this record even more to life. In a way. That from the actual music to the producing, writing, storytelling, performances and music videos. Only certain artists like Smith are able to continuously be able to do. With how they’re truly able to put the ART in artist. In a way only a select few are truly able to do. Which she does so yet again here. While also showing why she’s among so many of ours favorite artist’s at not only the current moment, but for the past several years.

I’ve watched it twice and now i get it, the girl doesnt feel like home unless the nanny is around, thats why shes so sad when she left. The wife doesnt feel like home (like is shown throughout the mv) and that is reflecting on their children in the form of neglect or something. So sad!

Looks like she’s the nanny of a rich family but the wife is unhappy. You can see the dad / husband flirting with a girl at some dinner they are having and he then hides his ring. The wife is having doubts about him and even watches his interaction with Jorja through the window. I think she’s singing the lyrics from the wife’s perspective.

Getting trapped in forced relationships, to play pretend in such a relation and finding oneself in a place where one has to keep up all these appearances, can suck life out of a person. It's the worst thing a human can do to oneself and let others take advantage of you for so long. Before chasing for a home, learn to feel at home with yourself first. You might get a big house, a partner or a family but you'll keep chasing for that home you always dreamt if the happiness and self contentment that should have been with you throughout, gets lost in the chase. It's an endless loops towards complete invisibility and one must break it before reaching to a point of no return.

Wow. This song speaks volumes to me! I’ve endured two abusive relationships in my life. The first being my childhood sweetheart who I later married and he gave me the gift of my darling son…. But I had to leave for the safety of my precious baby and my own health. Then 9 years later I unfortunately entered into a relationship with a narcissistic man. That relationship almost destroyed me. But on the 2nd of July I finally found my inner strength (which was always there but had been diminished) and put and end to it for good. My fiercely protective instincts over my son came to fruition and I thank him for the strength he instilled in me again. My son is the most loving, courageous, intelligent and empathetic 13 year old and I thank my lucky stars everyday that I am his Mum. For anyone out there who maybe struggling right now, there is ALWAYS hope and a way out…. Believe in yourself…. Your worth, love, health and happiness is out there….. Don’t give up ❤️💪🏻🤗 We all get one life in this world. Grab it with both hands and live it to the fullest! Sending out love and hugs to anyone who may need it….
